13k-Mile 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Presentation
This 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is one of 541 examples built for the US market during a two-year production run, and it now has 13k miles. It is powered by a 3.8-liter flat-six linked with a six-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential, and it is finished in Carrara White with red graphics over black leather and Alcantara. Features include the Sound Package Plus, the Sport Chrono Package, red 19″ center-locking wheels, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes, a Shark Werks exhaust system, bi-xenon headlights, a rear wing, carbon-fiber-backed seats, carbon-fiber interior trim, a roll bar, and automatic climate control. This 997.2 GT3 RS was purchased by the seller in 2021 and is now offered with a clean Carfax report and a California title in the seller’s name.
The track-focused RS model features a carbon-fiber rear wing and wider quarter panels when compared to the standard 997 GT3. This example is finished in Carrara White with red graphics and has bi-xenon headlights, fog lights, LED taillights, and dual center-mounted exhaust outlets. The front spoiler has scratches, and paint protection film has reportedly been applied to the body. The seller notes that a spare front spoiler is included in the sale.
Red 19″ center-locking multi-spoke wheels were mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires in September 2026. Braking is handled by yellow Porsche-branded calipers over ceramic-composite rotors. The GT3 RS was factory equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) featuring adjustable coilovers.
The carbon-fiber-backed seats are upholstered in black leather and Alcantara with Porsche crests on the headrests and contrasting stitching that extends to the dashboard, center armrest, and door panels. Carbon-fiber trim accents the cabin, and interior appointments include red seatbelts, a CD stereo with a Bluetooth phone interface, a roll bar, and automatic climate control.
The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel frames a central GT3-branded tachometer with an 8,400-rpm redline, a 225-mph speedometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The optional Sport Chrono Package added a stopwatch atop the dashboard. The digital odometer indicates 13k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.8-liter Mezger flat-six features VarioCam variable valve timing as well as titanium connecting rods and dry-sump lubrication. Factory rated output was 450 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. The car passed an emissions inspection in May 2026, and work in August 2026 included changing the oil and replacing the spark plugs. The seller states that the coolant lines have been pinned.

@1337TXguy. - Agree on the colors. As for the comment on me equating cars - you are correct - of course you can't make general comparisons. The same year/make/model does not mean the same car. I shorthanded my response when I should have explained a bit more. One of the commenters made a snide comment essentially implying I should have gladly accepted the result because my car had 6 owners. When I said "same car" what I meant was a car remarkably similar to mine beyond the high level. Same year, same miles, same upgrades/mods (PPF/Shark werks) etc. and sold very recently for 620 and had 8 owners. That was my point. Not that I think my car was or is worth 620.
Sep 23, 2026 · 23:01
@time_4_car FWIW, I know several people -- myself included -- that think this specific set of graphics and the two color exterior is the perfect blend of uniqueness and attention-grabbing while remaining restrained and classy. Some GT3 RS have too many competing colors or such jarring color combinations that they appeal to only very niche audiences. The white and red on this car is a widely appealing spec.
Sep 23, 2026 · 22:58
@carsnwine This is not a comment on the appropriate value for this car, as this isn't a market I am particularly familiar with. But just a gentle reminder that there is no such thing as "the same car but with more owners" or "the same car with fewer miles" or "the same car but in a different color". All of those factors, and many, many more (maintenance, specific options, pedigree, region where used, etc.), combine to form each unique instance's positioning in the market and appropriate valuation.

Sep 23, 2026 · 21:03
@Ep997TT What do you mean ? Any sensible car enthusiast or buyer should be concerned about how many previous owners the car has had. I wouldn`t want to by a car that has many previous owners , especially if they only onto it for a very short time .
Sep 23, 2026 · 20:58
whats wrong with the price ??? if the other car has been sold for more $ doesnt mean that any same car gonna sold at the same amount. stop living in the dreams.

Some cars, this model included (and Ford GTs, and CGTs) have run up extremely fast over the last 12 months. Wouldn't be surprised to see them adjust down a bit, stabilize, and then continue to rise over time.

Classic also includes international sales, where the markets are not as strong as U.S market, bringing the averages down
Sep 23, 2026 · 20:38
I did say it was a smaller sample size. The market for the exotics is falling, in general. But maybe not this car.

@brownan you're right, I know of a couple of cars that were converted to Cup spec and raced as such, since they are practically Cup cars with noise insulation. Anyone remember a team including Chris Harris taking a bone stock white/red 3.8 RS, like the one here, to the Nurbugring 24H race in 2010 and finishing 13th overall?? All they did was put a fuel cell (regulations), the full Tequipment roll cage and slicks. After the race they drove it back to Stuttgart and the car is now at the Porsche Museum.

This is absolute peak analog GT3 perfection.
Sep 23, 2026 · 19:49
@ilko All good points. I will add, having owned mine since new and it having had a former life as my track car, a high percentage of these saw track days. And the better for it frankly as it was a terrific track car. The other thing people did with these, was essentially turn them into manual Cup cars. A buddy did that with a white/red one via DeMan Motorsports at the time and it was unbelievable. IIRC, it had inconel exhaust, Penske three-ways, and the faux motorsport center locks were replaced with Cup center locks (and of course 1200lb springs). I recall driving that car at WGI back to back with my unmodified car and it felt completely unleashed. It was no longer able to be driven on the track given the cage and springs, but as a dedicated track car...man was it awesome. I regularly wonder what happened to that car...

@carsnwine not that many were crashed, since the people who bought them weren't rookies lol. Back then people graduated to a GT3RS, because these cars aren't the easiest to drive by someone with no experience. The clutch pedal itself is a workout. And if you lift mid-corner, you'll regret it... It's not like today when Porsche builds a gazillion 992 RSs that practically drive themselves and every influencer has one. The 997 platform is much easier to repair and maintain than 991 and 992s, on which half the chassis is glued together and irreparable if damaged. But let's say that 10% of the 3.8 RS cars were written off, which is a crazy number, but that would still leave 1,350 cars out there. As time goes by mileage becomes less and less important.

@ilko - I've also always wondered, given your point about the RSs being heavily tracked, how many of these cars a. remain and b. are in pristine condition. I would think these totals, especially b. would be materially lower.
Sep 23, 2026 · 19:26
@ace_pilot many reasons why this is better. Last of the legendary N/A Metzger, last 3 RS with a manual, last of the smaller bodied 911's, and the ultimate drivers car. I'd say get in before Porsche announces their new 3 RS. These are going to explode even more.
Sep 23, 2026 · 19:26
And while we're comparing, the 911 S/T seems to be at similar, or even lower price, compared to a 3.8 RS, again with same miles LOL!
Sep 23, 2026 · 19:21
@ace_pilot Porsche built 991 911Rs vs ~1,500 3.8 RSs, worldwide. Yet the 3.8 RS seems to bring more money for a car with similar miles compared to a 911R. Possibly because most 911Rs have low mileage because they were meant to be collectibles from the get go, while the 3.8 RS was literally meant to be driven at the track and most owners 15 years ago did exactly that. So there are way fewer low mileage 3.8 RSs than 911Rs. Additionally, the 3.8RS has a bulletproof engine, the 911R doesn't.

@seanmaine99 I think most folks bidding on cars of this elite caliber are 50+ yr old business owners, inventors, or finally spending their many smart years of investing retirement portfolios. It’s hard to achieve a car like this as an employee or even high salary earner. You gotta be a wealth creating employer and I think many have their business purchase the car under an LLC as a cost write off and don’t just cut a fat check (I’m sure some do tho). Or young guys that bought bitcoin early…

@slimspeed I agree, and DME is generally overhyped. I bought a range 4 7.2 RS last week on Dupont. These cars are meant to be driven. As long as there is significant hours after the "forbidden" ranges, it should be fine and the engine is made to handle this. Gotta love the Metzger!

While at the Porsche dealership today, I also had the car placed on a lift and the wheels removed so I could take current photos of the underside and all four wheel wells. No cleaning or detailing was performed on the underside or in the wheel wells before these photos were taken.

Range 1 and 2 readings mean nothing. This DME ( over rev report) is excellent. Many of these 3 RS cars have 4,5,6 range over revs and some are really high. This can happen if there’s software added that brings up the redline but this report is fabulous and I’m in no way affiliated with the seller but have looked at many of these 7.2RS cars before I bought mine. What a beauty.

Hi Everyone,
In response to a question regarding total operating hours, I had the car scanned today using Porsche’s PIWIS diagnostic system at my local Porsche dealer. Two pages have been added:
Page 1 identifies the vehicle by VIN and records the DME mileage at 21,426 km (approximately 13,313 miles), along with the current DME operating-hours counter of 435.2 hours. Page 2 is the DME overspeed/over-rev report. It shows 69 Range 1 ignitions recorded at 141.7 operating hours, with zero ignitions in Ranges 2–6. Accordingly, the sole Range 1 activity occurred approximately 293.5 operating hours ago.

Whoever said money cannot buy happiness was incorrect. Enough money can buy a 997.2 GT3 RS, and trust me that will make you VERY VERY happy. :)
Sep 22, 2026 · 16:31
@fclassics @seller Looks like the last page of the DME report is missing with the total operating hours. Either way, only 69 range 1 ignitions is hardly anything to worry about IMO... and with only 13k miles I would guess the total operating hours are somewhere around 300.

Also, if you can share pictures on a lift to show the motor block, and underbody panels, including drive shaft boots. Maybe also show the wheels removed so that we can inspect the wheel housing. Thanks!

@Mbarba01 no the roll bar is sick leave it in
Sep 20, 2026 · 19:47
@Mbarba01 I don't think it effects the value of this car as its easily removeable, however 100% unstock RS'S do tend to bring a premium.
Sep 20, 2026 · 17:54
Thank you, @JSNY. Do you guys think an aftermarket roll bar can affect the value of a car? This is just a general question and has nothing to do with this magnificent car. I was simply wondering for my own knowledge.
Sep 20, 2026 · 17:43
@mbarba01 No US Spec 997 GT3 or GT3 RS cars had Roll bars installed from the Porsche Factory. The one installed in the subject vehicle is also aftermarket.
Sep 20, 2026 · 16:20
Hi, sorry for the newbie question here, but is the roll cage factory-installed?

That DME is problematic. It indicates a clearly insufficient number of track days.

Hi All,
Addressing the question about the windshield. I found one small chip. There are of course some minor imperfections as one would expect from normal use. Some water spots as well. Picture of chip included. Same goes for the headlights. Normal wear but very clean.

* DME report performed at last service

@carsnwine thx for the paint meter readings. The roll cage and NY sticker that says “……Tech” might be an indication. Any small nicks or chips on the windshield or headlight covers? Can we get close ups with the headlights on? Pic 24 looks like numerous windshield chips, but hard to see clearly.

Sep 18, 2026 · 06:41
If a 4.0 is going for 1 milly, this should be 600-700k in today's market. I've owned a 4.0 and driven a 3.8; it was nearly as good, just with a bit less torque, but you can easily make that up with intake and exhaust mods. The best RS you can buy.

In 2010 Porsche drove this same color combo 997.2 GT3RS from Weissach to the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, THE Chris Harris placed 13th overall, and Porsche drove it home. Will never happen again. This is the high water mark, ladies and gentleman.

A layman's view. @Seller: I trust you agree that THIS Porsche is the perfect choice for someone fed up with being an automotive introvert and then arrive at their local Cars & Wine. The red checkered flag decals bring to mind a "chessboard". To be able to afford this gem, I should've made better "moves" :)

In my opinion, and I'm not alone in feeling this way...the 997.2 GT3 RS is absolute peak motoring. Sure, the RS 4.0 version exists as an even more potent version, but for many of us, this is the nirvana we seek. I bought mine in 2013 and it is BY FAR my favorite car that I've ever owned by a huge margin. There is never a time that I regret buying it, and I'd go so far to say that I think the car actually improves with age as we see how everything continues to change. It will forever be my 'Red Ryder BB gun' and the last manual transmission car that I will ever sell. GLWTA, but you don't need any luck at all.

What's the last sportscar you can remember that had a simple steering wheel without buttons or switches? There aren't 6 driving modes, no stereo volume switches or phone controls. Perfectly emphasizes this car is all about the driving experience. 997 is peak 911. Get 'em while you can.

Hi Everyone, welcome to the auction of this 997.2 GT3RS!
As the writeup says, I've owned this beautiful car since 2021. During my ownership, I had the coolant lines pinned, full PPF applied, and a Sharkwerks exhaust installed (the factory exhaust is included). Mileage is 13,307. The car was recently serviced at Modderman Porsche in early August (plugs and fluids). A DME was performed (clean) and will be uploaded shortly.
New Michelin Cup 2 tires were installed last week and there is a spare front lip spoiler on the way. I've decided not to install the spoiler as I'm assuming the new owner will want to drive it and wait to change it out. The RS is available for viewing in San Mateo, California. Feel free to use the "Contact Seller" button if you have any questions or want to see it in person. Good luck!
