S/T-Style 1973 Porsche 911T Coupe 5-Speed
Presentation
This 1973 Porsche 911T is a US-market coupe that was delivered new to Wester Volkswagen in Seaside, California, and was exported to the UK in 2012, where it was acquired by the current owner in 2013. It was rebuilt in S/T-style in Italy in 2021 by Gulf Blue, including the installation of steel fender flares, fiberglass bumpers, and a through-hood fuel filler. The flat-six was increased in displacement to 2.7-liters and fitted with dual PMO carburetors, and the retrofitted five-speed manual transaxle was modified with a Quaife limited-slip differential, RS-style fourth and fifth gear ratios, and a short shifter. The car was repainted its factory shade of paint-to-sample Marathon Blue Metallic, while the interior was fitted with a roll bar, black leatherette and corduroy sport seats, Schroth harnesses, lightweight door panels, and an ST-style steering wheel. This 911T is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, with the window sticker, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, the owner’s manual, service records, a tool kit, and UK registration.
The car came finished from the factory in paint-to-sample Marathon Blue Metallic with an electric sliding sunroof and was repainted in 2021 following the installation of steel fender flares, fiberglass S/T-style bumpers, and an aftermarket front hood equipped with a center fuel filler. Additional appointments include rubber hood latches, a mesh rear grille, Cibie driving lights, bullet-style side mirrors, H4 headlights, and Euro-style taillights.
The 15″ Fuchs-style alloy wheels measure 7″ wide up front and 9″ in width out back, and they are mounted with Michelin TB15 tires showing date codes from 2020 and 2019, respectively. Work in 2021 included installing Bilstein shocks, uprated torsion bars, and teflon bushings along with replacing the sway bars and mounts, brake pads, and brake rotors.
The D’Eser sport seats are trimmed in black leatherette with corduroy inserts with ventilation grommets, and the rear seats have been removed. Schroth harnesses have been added along with a roll bar, lightweight door panels and carpets, a black headliner, and Coco floor mats.
The ST-style four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that was overhauled and fitted with early-style dials, consisting of a 150-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The speedometer was repaired in 2015 and the five-digit odometer was reset during the build. It now shows 2,700 miles.
The flat-six was rebuilt and increased in displacement to 2.7-liters during the build using 90mm pistons and cylinders. Upgraded camshafts and stiffer valve springs were also installed along with PMO 46mm carburetors, a front-mount oil cooler, a sport muffler, and a fiberglass engine shroud.

Thank you for all your comments and to those of you who have got in touch directly about the car.
I’ve uploaded two videos to the gallery of me driving it a bit harder this morning.
As we go into the last three hours, it’s worth saying just how usable and capable this car is. It has started on the button every time, hot and cold. It’s comfortable and has enough torque to be easy to drive around town but the cams really reward you when you push on.
The car has only covered 2,700 miles since the rebuild so it’s very much a 911 ready to use and enjoy for years to come.
Please feel free to ask any final questions. We’ve really enjoyed talking with buyers in the UK, Europe and the USA.
cheers
Rory

Slightly challenging weather today, but the driving video is now uploaded.
The forecast looks much better for tomorrow so we’ll follow up with a second one then.

Hey Rory- what is the 12.5% import tax based on? The auction sales price or a declared value or ? Curious about this. Hope all is well. -

hi Everyone
Please see the dyno sheet below showing the car making over 240bhp at 6,800 rpm on a rolling road in 2021 shortly after the ST conversion. Note that the sheet describes the engine size as 2.5L, this is a mistake, it is 2.7L as the listing states.
I can attest to that number from real world use, driving video coming soon.
cheers

hi @MountainRoads
I've spoken to the owner and he says the gauges were purely a personal choice. He liked the tinted numerals which pick up the colour of the car. The same goes for the Talbot mirrors which he simply preferred the look of.
He wasn't trying to copy an original ST down to every detail, but rather build a road car he could enjoy with a few personal touches to make it his own. It wouldn't take much for a new owner to tweak these details if they wanted to achieve a different look.
thanks

Very pretty car. Interesting choice of early (up to 1967) gauges considering the original S/Ts were 1970 - 1972. Not nit-picking. They look good and owner obviously gets to do what they want regarding personal choices. Just curious if the rationale is known.

hi @rbny
The car would be subject to 12.5% import tax into the USA and shipping would be around $5,000. We’re happy to help with more detailed quotes if you’d like to contact us directly.
thanks

hi @rivarama
Please see a detailed description of the ST conversion by Gulf Blue below, which cost a total of €114,000.
Since the build was finished the car has been used sparingly, so it has only needed a carburettor tune. We also carried out a few small jobs to prepare the car for sale which you can see in the photos below.
thanks

Hello,
do you have the details (itemized invoices) of the work done in 2021 by Gulf Blue - engine rebore to 2.7, respray, suspension, brakes etc... and any service work done since the rebuild 5 years ago? The last service invoices seem to stop in 2013.
Thank you

IF this car doesn't get your juices flowing, there's something VERY wrong with you. Fabulous color and highly optioned besides the PTS. Bold move using it for a ST conversion! You wouldn't catch me complaining, LOL.

hi Everyone
Thank you for your comments so far. We see quite a few ST reps, but rarely do we see them finished to such a high standard with so much attention to the small details. The colour on this car is very special too as it was paint-to-sample Marathon Blue Metallic from the factory. After 40 years in San Diego, the car was sent to Rondinelli Classic Sports Cars (Gulf Blue) in Bologna in 2021 where they carried out a €96,500 ST conversion. We look forward to sharing more information about the car in the coming days. The car is available to view at our showroom in Bicester. cheers

Great looking car. My 69 911E is the same color. So of course I agree with SF 911.
