The 911 R was a limited-production variant developed in the spirit of the 1967 homologation special of the same name. Styling was based on that of the contemporary 911 GT3, with construction elements borrowed from the GT3 RS including a magnesium roof panel and a carbon-fiber hood. The model also featured a carbon-fiber deck lid and front fenders, a model-specific front lip and rear underbody splitter, a retractable spoiler, and an aluminum grille.

This example is finished in white with red stripes and has LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Lighting System, fog lights, clear taillights, body-color side skirts, contrasting side graphics, auto-dimming mirrors, carbon-fiber mirror caps, and a speed-activated rear spoiler.

The 20″ alloy wheels feature center-locking hubs and are mounted with Michelin tires. Adjustable suspension underpinnings and rear-axle steering were shared with the contemporary GT3, though specially tuned for the 911 R. Stopping power is provided by yellow six- and four-piston monobloc calipers over ceramic-composite rotors at each corner. The optional front-axle lift raises the car on command to help prevent scraping. A brake fluid flush was performed in March 2025.

The carbon-fiber full bucket seats are trimmed in black leather with Houndstooth-style cloth inserts, “911 R” embroidery on the headrests, and contrasting stitching that extends to the dashboard, center armrest, steering column, and door panels. Carbon-fiber trim accents the cabin, and additional appointments include air conditioning, the Light Design Package, carbon-fiber illuminated door sill guards, a CD stereo, a Bose sound system, cruise control, and PCM infotainment with navigation.

A dash-mounted plaque denotes the car as #519 out of 991 units produced.

At @ABSCARSMARKET, we’re fortunate to feature some of the most beautiful Porsche models out there — and this is definitely one of them.
Congratulations to the owner on a truly stunning example. GLWA!

@peloton I don't think anyone chooses to drive a car like this in stop and go traffic, the traffic chooses you
Sep 5, 2026 · 02:49
The gearbox rattle with the SMFW is part of the charm of the car and the heel/toe with SM is a lot of fun, the engine picks up revs much faster. And besides, who chooses to drive a car like this in stop and go traffic anyway? Take out your RAV4 for that.

Smart money buys this and spends $5-10k MAX at their Porsche dealer to put on the OEM single mass flywheel / reinforced clutch, then put the dual mass on the shelf... 2 parts you can order at the parts counter.
But if it was me, I'd rather have the dual mass flywheel for traffic and not have it sound like a rock tumbler at a red light.

Make that, “missing a blue stripe”.
Sep 3, 2026 · 00:30
It’s mixing a blue stripe between the red stripes and the number 772 on the doors. My PCA sim racing buddies will get it.
Magnificent!

I can only say that in real life driving, which includes going slow and having to deal the traffic, the DMFW is infinitely easier to drive without any drama. I’ve owned both and drove each about 4000 miles. At idle, the SMFW sounds like a bag of hammers being rolled around. I like driving my cars and not coveting the lowest mileage examples and treating them like butterflies in a glass jar, but that’s me. This 911R really ticks all of the boxes, especially having just 1 owner.

@lottacars So wait... if a lot of people want something, it's worth more than if only one person wants it? I think you've just rediscovered the law of demand from economics.

One of my favorite Porsches. But I've never been a fan of the billboard on the side. It is the epitome of redundancy. Only someone living under a rock for the last 50 years would not know what kind of car it is. If it was mine, I'd remove decals. I don't think anyone would mistake it for a Peugeot. Just my (likely) unpopular opinion.

It is interesting the difference in sale prices between FMFW and the DMFW R's. Two of the cars sold at Monterey this year were very similar. Both white, both CF buckets. At RM, a delivery mile SMFW sold for $830k, at Broad Arrow, a 2500 mile DMFW sold for $620k. Recent sales suggest that the SMFW cars are selling for $150-200k more than the DMFW cars. For many, the flywheel choice appears to be very important.

Do y'all think auctions will produce a good deal for the buyer? Methinks the rise in car prices is mainly due to auctions with tens of thousands of "lookers" and bidders. My theory seems to be backed up by others. If a car has one bidder the price will be X; if it has hundreds of bidders the price will be Y. Sorry all for the esoteric comments but this will be another example methinks.

One day I will regale my future grandchildren with the tale of how their pappy was in a multiple six figure auction battle for a 911r. Can we all just agree not to mention my high bid to final hammer price ratio?

Wow, what a wicked Waltham 991 911 R. Has it ever been parked in the Harvard Yard? But, in all seriousness, a superb specimen, cool as can be, and should fetch a pretty truck load of pennies. GLWTA!
