Presentation

Recalling the open-top Porsche race car that took victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring and Targa Florio in 1960, the 987 Boxster RS 60 Spyder edition was produced as a limited series of 1,960 examples worldwide, of which fewer than 800 were delivered to North America. This limited-edition model comes standard with 19" SportDesign wheels, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a specially tuned Sport Exhaust System, and distinctive styling cues. This example, #1776/1960, is finished in GT Silver Metallic over a Dark Grey Natural Leather interior and is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, the Sport Chrono Package, heated front seats, automatic climate control, the Bi-Xenon Headlight Package, the BOSE Surround Sound System, and more. Showing under 12k miles, this well-presented example is now being offered for auction in Maryland.

The car is finished in GT Silver Metallic and can be identified as an RS 60 Spyder edition by its SportDesign front fascia, black-framed windscreen, red taillight lenses, and 19" SportDesign wheels fitted with optional colored Porsche-crested center caps. It rides on Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2021 and 2022, while an additional set of lobster claw wheels will accompany the sale. The seller states that paint protection film is applied to the hood, front bumper, the forward portion of the fenders, the lower front fascia, and the quarter panels ahead of the rear wheel arches, and notes a very small nick in the front spoiler. The seller adds that no paintwork or bodywork has been performed during their ownership. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the driver is greeted with Dark Grey Natural Leather upholstery with model-specific details including an exposed instrument cluster, silver seatbelts, stainless-steel door sills with RS 60 Spyder designations, and a serialized plaque on the glovebox displaying the car's individual production number, 1776. The car is fitted with Sport Seats, and further appointments include heated front seats, automatic climate control, self-dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor, the Sport Chrono Package with a dashboard stopwatch dial, the BOSE Surround Sound System, leather sun visors, Porsche-crested headrests, and a storage compartment lid with the model logo.

Power comes from a mid-mounted, naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six paired with a 6-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels. The RS 60 Spyder edition is based upon the Boxster S and comes with a specially tuned Sport Exhaust System that raises output to 303 HP, allowing for acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5.3 seconds. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and wheel spacers are also standard on the edition, while the Sport Chrono Package was additionally opted for. The seller states that new OEM tire-pressure sensors and a new battery were installed in 2026, and that all gauges and electronics are fully functional and operate to factory specifications.

Dear 'Greenmachine' vacuum salesman. Thank you for the response. Because you chose to handle standard due diligence questions with hostility rather than simply verifying picture 77, I have taken my business elsewhere. I was a serious buyer prepared to bid aggressively regardless of price. However, your poor professionalism was an immediate red flag. Pretty sure your m and your w already know this. Instead, I spent my day purchasing a 2008 Porsche Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 (1 of 500 worldwide). GLWTA, I hope future bidders receive the transparency and respect required on this platform.

@PATriumpher I have not had a DME report conducted. No symptoms to suggest doing a bottom up borescope.

Beautiful car. Is there a DME report available? Also, any symptoms to suggest doing a bottoms up borescope?

Thanks for the confirmation on the mechanicals and buttons. Regarding the passenger seatbelt, I am looking directly at picture 77 in the gallery where the brown discoloration is clearly visible. Could you please double-check that specific area, or provide a clear, close-up photo of the passenger belt? If it is just a trick of the lighting, I would love to clear that up. Having owned this exact model before, I asked these specific questions because I personally experienced all of these issues with my previous car. If a seller is this hostile over standard due diligence questions on an online auction platform, it is often a major red flag for how the rest of the transaction, paperwork, and delivery will go. I am a serious buyer who knows this model well, and I expect a respectful, transparent dialogue moving forward. Let me know if we can proceed on those terms.

@mcbaird Sorry to disappoint you, the car has 11,500 miles on it, no leaks and no white smoke. No stains, brown or otherwise, within a mile of the car. And no sticky buttons. You must be thinking about your w.
Sep 1, 2026 · 16:44
Hello. I like your car. Do you know if this one has had the rear main seal serviced? ...ever any historical signs of oil drip or white smoke on startup? I noticed the passenger seat beat is brown stained; are there any other signs of coffee spills, etc.? Do all of the console buttons work without sticking? I used to own this same model, except with red stitching, Thanks in advance.

@JediKnight hello: I just now uploaded a group of photos that include the keys, owners manual and a shot of the nick in the passe ger sfide front splitter. Earller I posted some photos of maintenance invioces pertaining to a new battery and new tire pressure sensors. No work has been done to the clutch under my ownership as it has not been needed. Thanks for taking a look and let me know if you have any further questions.

Do you have a photo depicting the nick, mentioned in the write up, in the front spoiler? Could you post photos of the additional wheels that are included in the sale? Could you also post photos of the Keys and any Porsche literature that you have that came with the vehicle. Do you have service documentation available including anything to do with the clutch?
