Presentation

This 1985 Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 was acquired by the selling dealer in 2026 and fitted with a 2.0L Twin Spark inline-four as part of a build completed over the course of the year. Refinished in red with white graphics, the car wears Cibié driving lights and is equipped with Brembo front disc brakes, Koni shocks, and 14″ Campagnolo C-40 alloy wheels. Inside, 2+2 seating trimmed in tan cloth and vinyl is accompanied by a two-spoke Personal steering wheel as well as aftermarket gauges. The engine is managed by a tuned Microtech ECU, while shifting is through a five-speed manual transaxle. This modified Tipo 116 GTV is now offered by the selling dealer in Ceva, Italy, with Italian ownership documents.

The Alfetta coupe was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign and introduced in 1974, two years after the introduction of the four-door berlina. This example was repainted in red under previous ownership and subsequently fitted with white graphics as well as various decals by the selling dealer.

Quad headlamps are paired with Cibié driving lights up front, quadrifoglio decals have been applied to the fenders, and white #85 meatballs appear on the doors. Further details include a glass liftgate, door-mounted side mirrors, and black bumpers.

The 14″ Campagnolo C-40 alloy wheels are finished in black and mounted with Michelin tires measuring 155/65. A 14″ steel spare with an older Michelin tire is stored in the cargo compartment.

The cabin houses bolstered front bucket seats and a contoured rear bench upholstered in tan cloth and vinyl, which extends to the door and side panels. The car has been rewired, and retained amenities include a cabin heater, a rear defroster, and power windows. The dashboard is cracked, the headliner is missing, and the stereo is removed, though speakers are retained in the doors and rear parcel shelf.

The two-spoke Personal steering wheel frames a Veglia Borletti 240-km/h speedometer and tachometer as well as an analog Borg clock. Auxiliary gauges indicating oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature are mounted atop the center stack, and aftermarket gauges for water temperature, air/fuel ratio, and voltage have been added below. The five-digit odometer shows 10k kilometers (~6k miles), approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership.

@codyburdette-I completely agree. Very few Alfettas in North America with a TS engine. Combined with a great exterior and interior, it’s quite a rare offering.

@codyburdette yes this would be very difficult in the usa with all the needed parts to have it shipped. I also dont think there are much twin spark engines available in the usa. You would really need a open check book to build one in the usa. Importing would be the better option.

Someone should consider importing this to the USA! Twin spark build here would be very difficult to complete without a open check book. GLWS!

The car and the book that inspired us to do a road legal rally/race inspired gtv. And ofcourse we had to put in the powerful twinspark to match it.

As requested some pictures showing the condition of the rear seats. They are in great condition no damage. A very difficult and rare interior to find. Personally my favorite this beige velours with hazelnut leather. If anybody wants more photos of something specific please ask and i will send them.

On the front of the car there has been fitted original period correct Cibie lights. Not only are they aesthetic but also great for driving in the evening. Giving you just that extra light you need to be confident enough to put the foot down.

Nicely conceived car and well-presented video. Good luck with the sale!

In the driving video, while those two bicyclists appear fully loaded and might not have been Italian, from my experience in Italy (of which I truly love) if they were in fact Italian, they would have likely enjoyed the brief glimpse of a good Italian Alfa and applauded the driver for making efficient use of the road. Nessun contatto, nessun fallo.

@marek Like you said a beter alternative for the intake cam phaser then original is not out there. The original is used and works together the microtech ecu. The old ignition has been removed and closed with the special set made by alfaholics. Every cilinder has its own bobine making it a very reliable set up.

@gruppo classics, I love the brio in your driving video-some ‘driving’ a sports car instead of puttering around, I not so sure the cyclists did, possibly they stopped in a local cafe for a Grappa🥃. Best of luck with the sale, looks like a load of fun just what we need.

Could you explain if the intake cam phase variator is still used by the Microtech and also provide details of the ignition system? These are special engines and its nice to see experimental alternatives to the stock dual distributors. But I haven't see a convincingly good alternative to the stock cam phasers.

With respect you need more photos, particularly of the underside. That interior is a standout though, finding that light interior in such good condition is rare.

Hi guys, we have custom build this car 1 of 1. If anybody have questions about it please ask us. With this setup, the car produces the same power as a standard GTV6, but the experience is completely different. Instead of relying on the effortless torque and low-revving character of the V6, this 2.0 Twin Spark wants to be worked. It is a high-revving, eager and responsive engine, the kind that rewards you for keeping your foot in it and allowing the revs to build. Where the GTV6 gives you that wonderful V6 punch, this Twin Spark gives you something rather more frantic and involving. It feels lighter on its feet, more eager, willing to chase the upper reaches of the rpm. Inside, however, the approach is deliberately subtle. The car retains its original luxurious Alfetta GTV interior, which remains in beautiful condition. Rather than replacing the cabin with a stripped-out competition interior, the original character has been preserved. There are, however, small details that hint at the car’s sporting intentions. The result is a cabin that feels authentic rather than artificially “rally converted”. And that philosophy continues throughout the car. Nothing has been done simply for the sake of looking aggressive. The rally character is there, but it remains understated. A proper Italian driver’s car, elegant enough to appreciate at a standstill, but engineered to come alive when the road starts to twist. The car is fully road legal and has a valid revisione(Mot-Tüv-Apk).
