Presentation

This 1983 Porsche 911 Turbo is a rest-of-world coupe that was imported to the US from Germany in 1985 and was rebuilt and modified with an EV conversion after being acquired by the seller in 2020. The exterior and suspension work was led by Coachwerks Restoration of Victoria, British Columbia, and included a bare-metal repaint in Guards Red along with the installation of a ducktail decklid, LED headlights, 17″ Braid wheels, Von Street coilovers, Elephant Racing GT3 front suspension components, Turbo tie rods, and RSR-style sway bars. The Bisimoto Engineering EV setup incorporates a liquid-cooled, single-drive AC three-phase induction motor linked with a single-speed transaxle equipped with a helical limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes regenerative braking, LG Chem 32-kWh battery packs, drive-by-wire throttle input, a sunroof, sport seats, Speedhut gauges, and a PCCM head unit. This 911 Turbo EV conversion is now offered with build records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Utah title in the seller’s name.

The car was stripped to bare metal and underwent rust repair on the left front fender before being repainted its factory shade of Guards Red during the build by Coachwerks Restoration. A vented ducktail decklid, a replacement front spoiler, and replacement rubber weatherstripping were fitted at that time in addition to 9eleven LED headlights. Charging ports are located behind the license plate and fuel door.

“The build was engineered to preserve the original character of the 930, maintaining its rear-biased dynamics (60/40) and overall weight (3007 lb), while delivering a substantial increase in performance. With 639 horsepower, the result is a dramatically improved power-to-weight ratio compared to the original platform.”

The 17″ Braid Fuchs-style wheels measure 9″ wide up front and 11″ in width out back, and they are mounted with Nitto Motivo tires measuring 255/40 and 315/35, respectively. Braking is handled by four-wheel ventilated discs, and the car features regenerative braking. An Elephant Racing GT3 front suspension kit was installed in 2022 along with Von Street coilovers, a 935 spring plate kit, RSR-style front and rear sway bars, and Turbo tie rods. A Rennline front strut tower brace has also been added.
RoW 1983 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe EV Conversion photo 5
The sport seats are upholstered in black leather and are complemented by a color-coordinated center console, door panels, and carpeting. A Porsche Classic Communications Management head unit and Rennline floor boards have been added, and the air conditioning and heating systems have been removed. The headliner and sun visors were replaced during the build and the dash was re-covered.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames Speedhut instrumentation including a central tachometer with an 18,500-rpm redline as well as a 160-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 78k miles, and the seller tells us that approximately 800 miles have been added since the EV conversion.

@kanghm32 We recently had a baby girl, so I just don’t have as much time to enjoy it as I used to. The money would also go a long way toward getting our family set up the way I’d like.

Very interesting build. As a gear head I have a hard time passionately connecting with EVs, even though I drive one for work. But as a hobby craftsman I must applaud the execution of this car. Very well done.

@seller “The car was converted without any modifications to the chassis or other original structural components. The entire conversion was designed to be as non-invasive.“
Well, there’s a plus. I guess.

I agree, all for the BEVolution (In some areas). In fact, the manufacturer of this battery made an EV 935 race car!

@kanghm32 Yes, you could swap them out and its designed in a modular way to be forward compatible. You should be able to easily get 100k plus miles on these batteries before any serious degradation.

Is the battery swap a possibility? As in it’s just a production 32kwh that can just be replaced every n miles?

@kanghm32 It’s a tough question to answer because there are so many variables, including how much regen you use. I’d say you can generally get near to 100 miles on a typical canyon drive where you’re getting on it but also doing some cruising. That said, if you’ve got a really heavy right foot, your tires might not last as long as your range 😂
It’s easy to dial it back and drive without ripping through the tires, but it sure is fun to let loose every once in a while! The best part about driving in the canyons is having reliable, instant power that responds entirely to your inputs, rather than the unpredictable power surges the original car used to have.

This car is perfect in the sense that it gets everyone stirred up pronto. You’ve covered all the bases, Porsche folks who don’t suffer others’ opinions easily, EV crowd – bone crushing acceleration at any cost junkies, Porsche’s on and off exploration of EVs, and a model year that has its gas engine devotees who looked forward to the next failure wrench in hand. Not all art is about esthetically pleasing work. There are artists that intentionally stress their audiences, look at Francis Bacon, to name one of many. His work is definitely not just hang it on the wall in the family room next to the dogs playing poker. In my opinion this car is in this class of art, love it or hate it. To hammer my point home, regardless of where you stand on it, it made you think of it long after you saw the post. Close your eyes and you smile thinking of whispering acceleration OR burned in horror of images of what once was great with a huge question mark over it. For the record, I don’t like it and this particular peanut does have a Porsche that he loves. But I am sure someone will fork over piles of money to own it and will love it. GLWA

Last question; this 130 range, is this like burning tires go range or 55mph range
mtnhuck (The Seller)
Oct 25, 2026 · 21:35
@knuckles-R-Busted Exactly! I’ve owned three G-body cars, and every single one had to be towed home more times than I can count because something went wrong. They were constantly in the shop.
Oct 25, 2026 · 20:42
Chain tensioner issues, leakdown concerns, cracked exhaust manifolds and heat shields, oil leaks from lines and gaskets, fuel injection unreliability? Nope, not a concern anymore. The power video reminded me of so many cars I've watched leaving shows using far too much throttle and ending up sliding into bushes, trees, ditches, other cars etc. Thankfully this ended better. But it sure did showcase the abilities, and who doesn't like the idea of spinning tires at 50MPH? Once or twice anyway. 😁

Maybe once they fully develop an "EV soundtrack" to accompany these conversions and pipe a proper engine note into the cabin, they will become more acceptable to people. A silent 930 is going to disappoint a lot of people. I am a fence sitter. On one hand, I am an absolute acceleration junkie. So, this satisfies that itch in spades. No need to worry about blowing up a very valuable flat 6 with too much boost, poor fuel, missed shifts, etc. Just seemless power and torque and massive thrust. Win. On the other hand, I kind of think these 930s had just about enough HP as they were delivered. Certainly enough to earn a reputation as a very twitchy machine which requires care and skill to operate at the limit. I wonder how this car plants the power down in comparison to the laggy "point and shoot" original. It may be even more of a handful to drive. Either way, I would most certainly get in this sucker and firewall the throttle.

Bisi is a super talented guy, I've been a fan of his from his early days building drag Honda Civics to crazy turbocharged Honda Odyssey soccer mom vans to transitioning to Porsches. He's also built an electric 935 Moby Dick if you guys are already upset at this 930 conversion. Back to this car, 930s are really really rare and so heavily loved cars. They are arguably one of the top 5 most iconic cars to ever grace the black top. We all love the 930 for the addictive sound of that boosted angry Metzger flat 6 that loves to rev, pop and burble especially on a downshift and throw you a flame or two just for good measure. An EV conversion is fast...there is no doubt or argument there but as @mick59 concisely wrote below "the soul is gone". I think about our good friend Jay Leno, when he drives his Lambo Espada at full tilt and he starts singing the Italian Opera, as that is the embodiment of these cars..the sound, the feeling, the mechanical opera! An EV will never be able to replicate that.

Putting an electric motor in a classic car is like putting a quartz movement in a vintage mechanical watch. It removes the heart and soul of the machine.

For those asking how the EV range of 150 miles compares to the original:
• City Range: ~337.5 miles (15 MPG × 22.5 gal)
• Highway Range: ~450 miles (20 MPG × 22.5 gal)
• Combined Range: ~382.5 miles (17 MPG × 22.5 gal)

I am generally not a fan of EV conversions to classic cars, but I will say that the Bisimoto kit is really enthusiast based and the 'right' way to do it. So, if your idea is to have an EV converted classic 911, I would say that this is likely one of your best options. It is spectacularly beautiful to boot. So, let's say the glass is very much half full, which current bidding levels seems to agree with. GLWTA!

@mara721 thats correct. Watch the link meercat posted about the earlier version of this architecture on Bisi's other build which produced closer to 100 miles. Yes it still depends on the driving style but regen helps and I can usually easily do 100 the 120 is when i need to be conservative

@oskibronco THIS!! Its so hard to explain how fun it is to drive this car and how many people change their mind after just a small drive in it. I have had sooo many cars but this is by far the most fun car i have ever driven.

Owning a Taycan GTS and a former owner of a 997.2 C4S six speed, I can only imagine how fun this car would be. 120 mile range is fine with a home charger as this is not going to be a long trip hauler. The acceleration must be amazing. GLWA.

thank you @mtnhuck. Not questioning claimed range and totally respect Bisi's engineering, but of course we all know EV range can vary so much based on conditions and driving style. I cant see myself driving this thing like a Prius. So just to confirm, the car has a grand total battery capacity of 32kWh? Is that correct?

agree with @snapster, brilliant gorgeous restoration. One must however question confirm only 32 kWh with a 600+ hp power system. If that's all she has, that's not going to get you very far down the road, but heck she is beautiful!

It absolutely comes alive in the canyons. The driving experience is visceral, like an ICE 930, but with suspension that keeps it more planted and composed through the corners. And when you ask for more power, it absolutely screams. Best of all, it retains the same weight and weight distribution as the original. It was created by Bisimoto. if you dont know of him, look him up. He creates amazing cars!

Don’t mind electric conversions, if done well. 32kWh RESS with an induction motor (scrap early Tesla?) at 400V, acceleration will fall off at 50-60mph. An 800V 55kWh RESS with proper mag motor will pull hard to 90mph+. This will cruise to cars & coffee (hope it’s close), but canyon carver it is not.
