2004 Lotus Elise Motorsport
Presentation
This 2004 Lotus Elise Motorsport is a factory-built race car that was campaigned in SCCA events from 2010 through 2015. Finished in Saffron Yellow over black, the car is powered by a 1.8-liter inline-four paired with a six-speed manual transaxle with a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a full roll cage, Öhlins remote-reservoir shocks, DBA slotted brake discs, a Safety Devices fire suppression system, an Exige-style driver’s racing seat, five-point harnesses, ECU performance mapping, a cold air intake, and a custom exhaust system. The car was acquired by the current owner on BaT in August 2021. This Elise Motorsport race car has 2,800 kilometers (~1,700 miles) and is offered at no reserve on dealer consignment in Michigan with a bill of sale.
The car is finished in Saffron Yellow with green stripes and checkerboard graphics along with roundels on the hood and doors. Other exterior features include a front splitter, a rear diffuser, front and rear tow hooks, and an emergency kill switch located on the B-pillar. The car received repairs to the front and rear body panels following an on-track incident under previous ownership.
Forged split-spoke 16″ front and 17″ rear alloy wheels are finished in black and mounted with Hoosier R6 tires measuring 205/45 and 225/45 respectively. The car features Öhlins remote-reservoir shocks and DBA slotted brake discs. The rear inner Heim-joint ends were replaced under current ownership.
The cabin features a full roll cage along with twin black cloth racing seats with an Exige-style seat for the driver and “Elise” embroidery. Additional equipment includes five-point Sparco and Safety Devices harnesses, a Safety Devices fire suppression system, and Safety Solutions driver and passenger window nets. A fire extinguisher is mounted in the passenger footwell.
A removable three-spoke steering wheel fronts an Alcantara-trimmed dash that contains a 10k-rpm tachometer and a 260-km/h speedometer, along with AutoMeter auxiliary gauges. The factory odometer displays 2,800 kilometers (~1,700 miles).

I do track days with a C5, no cage. That's why I am looking for a caged car. Although, an Elise doesn't have a lot of crush space.

When the Lotus Elise first arrived, I was seriously considering buying one. Got in one for a test fit, and realized my shoes hit all three pedals at once. I'm not that big, but goodness it was a tight cockpit.

@fattony we are meeting with the owner at his storage unit to gather up and look through the items first thing in the morning. Our team will know the answer and will be able give everyone an idea of what extras if any are coming with the car, or from the previous auction.

@RichardPetty they are factory spher joints, part # B120D0036F. Can be found on the service order posted which is Service Invoice 91000. One could upgrade them if they wanted too. Lots of good options out there.
Oct 20, 2026 · 00:27
Any luck on the spare wheels, the AIM, SCCA log book. Roll cage net and one of the roll bar cross bars is missing. I would imagine all these parts are somewhere in a storage unit. Just wondering if there is a chance of them showing up. Thanks
Oct 19, 2026 · 23:43
It can't hurt to ask; the description notes rear inner Heim joint ends were replaced, is there an additional brace like a BOE or an Isokinetic, or is just a stock replacement?

@kevingd the vehicle is currently not registered for street use. A bill of sale will be generated stating this as well. The original MCO which was produced by Lotus Cars when the car was brought to the USA is also coming with the sale, and on that as well it states the vehicle is not able to be put on the street.

@Fattony we do not believe this car has clutch or transmission issues. We believe that it was driver error on the second gear shifts. The shifter cables were replaced with upgraded ones from InoKinetic in 2022. @RichardPetty, you are correct. Most Lotus Factory Motorsport cars came with AC deletes. And this it true that you could option a street car without it. This car does not have AC in it @Donnie_Lotus
@Marcus1249 the car's fire suppression system has not been recharged. Our client when he purchased it did not plan to actually race it. He used it for more of a HPDE style days and open track sessions. One would just have to recharge the system. He added a fire extinguisher to the car which you can see on the passenger floor instead. We cannot at the moment find the AIM removed dash, or the SCAA log book. The current owner is checking his storage unit to see if we still has any of the extra items that came with the car when he bought it. And yes the green parts are vinyl and could be removed. @1NDL fire supression system needs to be recharged, our client chose to not enter comp with this car so he added a normal fire extinguisher instead. Looks like the first owner changed the driver side harness out, passenger side is still original to the car. Driver side belt expired in 2019, which was 2 years before our client purchased the car from this auction. Our client has not replaced a fuel cell in this car. If one wanted to full blown race this in a series, we recommend an update and replacement to these items.

Take this info with a grain of salt; as an intended race car, it is, as I remember, A/C delete. This was actually an option on road legal US Elises. I have only heard of one factory delivered street Elise with A/C delete.
Oct 17, 2026 · 20:29
Does the car has Air conditioning? I see the AC button missing.
Oct 17, 2026 · 19:02
Hi. Does the car have a clutch issue or is the transmission done? Or both? Thanks
Oct 17, 2026 · 18:11
to clarify could this be registered in montana with a bonded title and then be street legal
Oct 17, 2026 · 11:16
Does the car come with the removed Aim dash and fire suppression system and other items shown in the previous auction, are the green graphics vinyl/removable? Also curious about the 2nd gear crunch from the video

Would it be possible to take a picture of the front chassis boxes that are the upper and lower A-arm locations to see if they are square. this would require taking the front wheels off to get a true side view. Thank you.

Is the 2nd gear synchro stripped? It certainly sounds like its grinding from even these low effort downshifts.

@Blkbrd69 sorry about the video. Things that should be known though:
1. Track was not hot. So no workers were at stations, etc. We were lucky to be even able to provide everyone with some type of driving video, as this car has no title and can't go on the street. 2. Our main goal was to just give people the chance to hear the car run, more than just a rev video, starting video, etc. Again, can't put the car on the street. Again, we are sorry about the video, but we simply tried our best to give protentional buyers a chance to hear the car physically drive and run in an environment were we could legally do so. Our usually team that handles our listings was not available. And sadly, that day the video was shot, was the only time we were able to do it based on the local tracks small window of availability.

@Blkbrd69 - Absolutely painful to watch. Literally holding the wheel underhand for the second half.

This is a race car..... I have never seen a worse representation video of a car in my life. Driver seems to have never been on track before making every beginner error in the book, not to mention grinding gears doing skip shift non rev match downshifts.
