554-Mile 2006 Ford GT Heritage Edition
Presentation
This 2006 Ford GT is one of 343 Heritage Edition examples built for the model year, and it has 554 miles. Finished in Heritage Blue and Epic Orange over Ebony leather, the car was factory optioned with forged aluminum BBS wheels, a McIntosh stereo system, and gray-painted brake calipers. Power is provided by a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 linked with a six-speed manual gearbox and a helical limited-slip differential. The car was previously owned by Angus Mitchell, son of hairstylist Paul Mitchell and former co-owner of the hair product and styling tool brand. Recently acquired by the selling dealer, this Heritage Edition GT is now offered in Florida with a window sticker, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a Montana title.
The GT took inspiration from the GT40 racing cars of the 1960s and features an extruded-aluminum space frame, roll-bonded floors, and aluminum body panels. The Heritage Edition included a Gulf-inspired blue and orange livery similar to that worn by the 1968 and 1969 Le Mans-winning GT40. Additional equipment includes Ford GT graphics, HID headlights, fog lights, side air intakes, a vented hood, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and a dual center-exit exhaust system.
Factory-optional BBS forged lightweight aluminum wheels measure 18” up front and 19” out back and are wrapped in Goodyear tires. The Brembo braking system features four-piston monoblock calipers with cross-drilled and ventilated rotors that measure 14” up front and 13.2” out back.
The cockpit is trimmed in Ebony leather and houses manually adjusted seats designed by Sparco that feature carbon-fiber shells as well as GT40-style ventilation grommets and harness slots. The central tunnel is topped by an aluminum console with rotary climate controls, and rubber mats cover the aluminum floor panels. Additional interior amenities include a McIntosh CD stereo, air conditioning, and push-button ignition.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel is affixed to a tilting and telescoping column ahead of the GT40-inspired instrument array consisting of a central tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline and an offset 220-mph speedometer. Toggle-switch controls are positioned under additional gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, boost, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 554 miles. A driver-side airbag recall was completed in July 2019.
The mid-mounted 5.4-liter DOHC V8 features an aluminum block, cylinder heads, and pistons in addition to a Lysholm screw-type supercharger, a dry-sump lubrication system, and a water-to-air intercooler. Factory-rated output was 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.

@LegacyGraphicDesign. This car is NOT a piece of motorsports history. It is not a GT40! It's a beautiful modern car, perhaps a nepo-baby of the real thing. Originality, design, international racing success in period are what make motorsports history. This car is a lovely tribute to the original, but a paint job does not make it the same thing.

As much as I love these cars, it still blows my mind that they are going for this amount of coin. Sadly I will never be able to afford one, but I was able to drive a Heritage once when they were still new. One of the most memorable drives I've ever had, and I've driven some amazing cars in my day. These are certainly special vehicles.

certainly museum quality cars will be worth the most and the Ford GT is a worthy candidate. Again an iconic car that can be appreciated without daily driving

I saw the Quicksilver example Desneux Motorsports has, and it’s a beautiful car with exceptionally low mileage. I also noticed the two delivery-mileage examples that recently surfaced.
I really believe the ultra-low-mileage, delivery-mileage Ford GTs are going to be the ones to own long-term, regardless of color. Rarity certainly plays a role, but finding a nearly 20-year-old Ford GT in essentially new condition is becoming increasingly difficult. At some point, I think mileage and preservation could outweigh even the most desirable color combinations.
It will be very interesting to see how the market values these examples moving forward!

You are correct these cars are not getting any cheaper and the Gulf Heritage is not the rarest color. There is only 154 examples of the Quicksilver Ford Gt produced and more than double of that were the Gulf Heritage with343 examples produced. Watch and see what the price of the Quicksilver Ford GT brings here shortly. Desneux Motorsports has a really rare Quicksilver Ford GT. $$$. Well gang, were headed to the finish line today with another prime example of one of our favorite supercars. And again, we are in cubic dollar territory, which takes me out of the running. But some lucky bidder is going to take home an icon of a car today, it's artwork and history on wheels. I still catch myself just staring in disbelief there's a GT sitting in my garage. Then we go for a ride, and it's mind blown. Better bid to win, they ain't getting any cheaper, and from what we have seen especially this year, it's a great investment.

$1,400,000 and I don’t think it’s done climbing! These 2006 Ford GT Heritage Editions are incredibly special. All 2005 and 2006 Ford GTs are collectible in their own right, but the Heritage Editions take it a step further with their iconic Gulf-inspired livery paying tribute to Ford’s legendary racing history at Le Mans.
If this car reaches my original prediction of $1,750,000 or more, I really think we could start seeing the gap narrow between the Heritage Editions and the ultra-low-mileage non-Heritage Ford GTs. The Heritage will always command a premium, but I believe the very best examples of the non-Heritage cars have plenty of room to catch up.
It will be very interesting to see where this one ends up in a few days, especially with the other Ford GTs currently up for auction here as well. We could be watching the market establish an entirely new level for these cars. What a time to be following the first-generation Ford GT market!

@dr914- I did the samething, bought a 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S as a driver and my 2006 FGT with 8800 miles sits in my office and I bought nice shelves to display all memorabilia that I collected on the Ford GT over the twenty years, I have a few car covers and OEM Floor mats still in Ford original packaging, Added the J stickers and plastic wraps on everything the way it came out of the factory.All the great brochures and Books from Joey and Friends.

yup sure are, so valuable that I just ordered a new 911 as a "beater" !!! LOL (my original plan when I bought mine new was to drive it every day, but after 11,000 miles the prices went through the roof and the parts were discontinued, so I parked it and installed a battery maintainer. These cars are iconic and a piece of Ford history and will always be collector items now. Nothing wrong with having one on display in your ultimate garage and entertaining your friends as they look at the cars and you tell of their histories. Do not necessarily have to drive it!!!!

I hope you’re right, this market has been so hot that it would be great if it continues to rise. I would say you know better than anyone what the value is on these as you were the latest winner of a beautiful heritage edition. I personally see this one equal to yours, low miles but not delivery miles. If it had 50 miles that would be a different story now.

My dad’s idiot former boss bought a GT new in ‘05 and sold it 2 years later at a loss. He also went to prison for fraud which is unrelated but further speaks to poor decision making lol.
