Presentation

This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe was specified in Summer Yellow over Mahogany partial leather, and it was acquired by the current owner circa 2012. The car is said to have been used for PCA driving events in the Midwest under previous ownership, and it has been modified with an RS America-specification limited-slip differential, Billy Boat exhaust components, Koni dampers, and heavy-duty torsion bars. Powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a G50 five-speed manual transaxle, the car is equipped with 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a power-operated sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, an Alpine CD stereo, an aftermarket sound system, and cruise control. This Carrera coupe shows 83k miles and is now offered on behalf of the owner at no reserve by the seller, a BaT Local Partner, with service records dating from 1993, spare parts, a clean Carfax report, and a Wisconsin title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in Summer Yellow and features a power-operated sunroof, a rear spoiler, heated power-adjustable side mirrors, Bosch H4 headlights, and mesh inserts have been installed in place of the front fog lights. The seller tells us that the right fender and quarter panel were repaired and repainted following damage to the area. Chips are present on the mirror housings, and additional photos of the paint and trim condition are viewable in the gallery below.

The 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels were mounted with staggered-width Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 tires in August 2026. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs. A front strut tower brace, Koni dampers, and heavy-duty torsion bars were installed under previous ownership, according to the seller. Maintenance following the owner’s purchase is said to have included replacing the brake pads and flushing the brake fluid.

The cabin features front seats upholstered in Mahogany partial leather, along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Appointments include power windows, cruise control, an aftermarket dead pedal, and an Alpine CD stereo linked with a Kenwood equalizer, Boston Acoustics door speakers, and Infinity rear speakers. A previously installed speaker has been removed from the upper portion of the left door panel, and the air conditioning system is inoperative.
1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe G50 photo 5
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a clocked central tachometer and 170-mph speedometer, as well as a Quarz analog clock and gauges for oil level, oil pressure, oil temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 83k miles, approximately 7k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer drive gear was replaced in July 2007.
1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe G50 photo 6
The 3.2-liter M930/25 flat-six features Bosch Motronic engine management, and it was removed for a top-end overhaul in January 2003 at approximately 70k miles. Work at that time is said to have included machining the cylinder bores and cylinder heads as well as replacing the piston rings, camshafts, and rod bearings. Service under current ownership consisted of oil and filter changes, along with valve adjustments. The seller reports that the engine has a 10.5:1 compression ratio and that Porsche 964-specification camshafts have been installed. Photos of compression and leak-down test results from August 2026 are provided at the end of the gallery. The air conditioning components have been removed from the engine bay.

@vvtech74 - We have not been able to fully diagnose the issue with the turn signal. We do hear the relay clicking when the stalk is activated, and the bulb turns on when the parking light is activated. We believe that the housing for the turn signal connector could be the issue, but we aren’t entirely sure.

@motivearchive
Thanks for the detailed responses, really appreciate it.
Just wanted to follow up on cylinder 2. While I understand the technician considers 120 psi within spec, my concern is more about the roughly 25% difference compared with the other cylinders, particularly given the engine’s 10.5:1 compression ratio and 964 cams.
The 9% leakdown result is reassuring, but did the technician offer any explanation for the variation, or was a second compression test performed to confirm the reading? Also, was the test conducted with the engine fully warm and the throttle open?
I’m genuinely interested in the car, but just trying to get comfortable with that discrepancy before bidding. Thanks again.
motivearchive (The Seller)
Oct 12, 2026 · 15:56
@Funskull - We do not have an explanation for the difference in cylinder 2, but the tech assured us that it was within spec, just on the lower end of the range.
The straight cut 5th gear is a track modification done under prior ownership. It does produce a whine at highway speeds, but the car has been used for regular road driving under current ownership since 2012. You can hear this whine in the driving footage posted.
Because the track use occurred under prior ownership, we don’t have documentation explicitly outlining the extensiveness of track use. We aren't aware of any mechanical failures or overheating incidents during that period.
Regarding the right side damage, the damage occurred under prior ownership on track and was a minor, low speed incident. The car still retains its original body panels, and was purely cosmetic.
The head studs were replaced during the engine overhaul at approx. 70k miles, and approx. 13k miles have been added since the engine work.

@gregoiregamba - The AC has been removed from the car, as stated in the listing. However the AC components are included with the sale. The right-side front turn signal is not operational, but the remaining lights are operating, and we have not experienced any electrical issues other than the non-operational turn signal.

Oct 12, 2026 · 15:32
@Skaggssprings - Our mechanic at the Porsche specialist who performed the compression/leak down test told us that while cylinder 2 is on the lower end of the spec range, it is still within spec.

Unfortunately I am not in the serious bidder category at this time.

@1911WcLp
Thanks for the additional context. I’m aware the car was previously track prepared. My question is more around the driving experience and transmission itself. If the straight cut fifth produce noticeable whine at normal highway speeds, and if the fifth gear ratio differs from stock? Just trying to understand how usable the car is for regular road driving.
Oct 12, 2026 · 15:01
@motivearchive, Can you clarify whether the non-functioning right front turn signal has been diagnosed? Is it simply a bulb/socket issue, or has any wiring or repair work in the right front fender area been investigated? or a larger electrical issue?
1911WcLp
Oct 12, 2026 · 14:46
@Funskull my understanding is that a straight cut fifth gear is a track use modification which does cause whining with street use. This was a former track built Porsche as per the vehicle description.

@seller Just two final things I’m hoping to clarify before the auction closes:
1. Regarding the right side body repairs, do you know the circumstances of the damage and whether it was purely cosmetic or involved any structural repairs or panel replacement?
2. Were the head studs inspected or replaced during the 2003 engine work, and have they been checked for broken studs since? Given the age of the engine and its performance modifications, I’m just trying to understand whether this known 3.2L issue has been addressed or ruled out.
Oct 12, 2026 · 13:59
@seller couple more questions
1. Who installed the straight cut fifth gear, and why? Has the G50 been rebuilt, and does fifth gear produce noticeable whining at highway speeds?
2. How extensively was the car used at PCA driving events? Were there any mechanical failures, overheating incidents, or accident repairs?
Oct 12, 2026 · 13:58
@seller Cylinder 2 shows 9% leak down, which seems reasonable, but its compression reading is around 120 psi versus 155–170 psi on the other cylinders. Was compression retested on cylinder 2, and did the technician provide any explanation for the difference?

@JRPorsche Thank you for your questions! The car has received paintwork on the right front fender, passenger door, and right rear corner to ensure a consistent finish. We've attached paint meter readings for reference.
According to the owner, both the engine and transmission are original to the car and have received upgrades. The engine serial number is **64H04238**, which is consistent with a 1987 Carrera 3.2. While the owner does not have documentation confirming matching numbers, we also checked the warranty booklet for the original serial numbers but were unable to locate them. We've attached a photo of the engine serial number for reference.
As for the rear “Porsche” panel below the engine lid, it is a reflector and was not designed to illuminate from the factory.

Summer Yellow over Mahogany is certainly not a combination you see every day. Add the G50 gearbox and some well-chosen performance upgrades, and this looks like a Carrera that was built to be enjoyed. Would the Porsche crowd rather have a completely stock 3.2 or a properly sorted driver's example like this?

At 120 psi, Cylinder 2 is roughly 25% lower than your strongest cylinder (Cylinder 3 at 165 psi). In a healthy engine, compression across all cylinders should be within 10% to 15% of each other. Any follow up to this finding? I see the comment mentioning your mech. reports within spec. Any chance of a wet test for cyl. 2 ?
Oct 10, 2026 · 03:47
Photo 315 shows the AC compressor. There is also a tool kit from a later model car with a center lock wheel socket and a bottle of tire sealant, possibly from a 991 GTS or similar. It won't help the buyer of this 911, but might be useful for the car it goes with!
Did the described machine work to the heads and cylinders result in the higher compression ratio?
Also, ANY AIR COOLED 911 ENGINE running B&B heat exchangers should be checked carefully for leaks where the outer jackets are tack welded to the primary tubes. As these age, the tack welds are popping loose and possibly allowing Carbon Monoxide into the cabin with the heater on. I have seen at least 3 separate examples.

@9972RSR Thanks for the question. According to the current owner, the damage occurred under prior ownership on track and was a minor, low speed incident. The car still retains its original body panels.
Oct 7, 2026 · 14:21
Thanks for the info. Was the damage related to the track? I did see the mention of PCA events. Any further knowledge? An occasional HPDE event is quite different than club racing. Did the damage occur on the track?

@9972RSR thank you for your question! As noted in the listing, the car was previously used for PCA driving events under prior ownership. It has seen track use in the past, but has not been on track since 2012.

@9972RSR excellent questions.
Oct 6, 2026 · 14:06
No cats, no A/C, right side damage & roll bar holes in the carpet suggest track use. Can you provide any more insight on the extent in which it was tracked?

Am I reading the engine dyno charts correctly - 241 hp @6000 rpm, 214 lb.ft @5100 rpm; if so that's pretty strong as the 3.2s only made ~214 hp from the factory?

@motivearchive the headliner image in pic. #164 leaves a lot to be desired however, the latest pics look oh, so much better. Luxurious even. The cold start video.... man, it sounds like a spectacular build. Wow. I think the color combo is exceptional. Is the missing speaker available? Replaceable? Any reason why it was removed? Thanks

@1911WcLp thanks for the questions! The detailing team did make an effort to reduce the depressions in the front seats, though they are still visible as shown in the photos. The sunroof seals have not been replaced. We’ll also be taking some additional photos of the headliner along with a video showing the sunroof operation shortly and will get those uploaded.

@mrjirey thank you for your question! The A/C system was previously removed, and according to the owner, all of the components needed to restore the system should be included with the car. The compressor, condensers, and A/C lines can be seen among the included spare parts starting in photo #311.

@lglbeam I have attached some images of the stamping behind the wheels which confirm it is a 7/8 width.

@Cpr767
I have loved these old G bodies since first acquiring a used SC in ‘84. I happen to think that the factory made them just right, cosmetically. When I see a Targa bar or a rear spoiler mispainted I can’t help but cringe. Same thing for wheels that are refinished in a way they never left the factory. I just prefer to see things in their original condition,………and I think the market generally still agrees.

So no AC it seems as the Compressor was removed. @seller - does that mean the AC compressor is included in the automatic or have other components been removed or can the AC be restored or has it been converted to electric…. May need some more clarification/details on that

The documents uploaded are everything that the owner was able to provide. Due to his mechanical experience, he maintained the car on his own during the course of his ownership, so we do not have any shop records/invoices during that period.

Nice 3.2 Carrera coupe with its’ top end done. Summer Yellow is unusual and beautiful. The wheels have been refinished and, unfortunately, they polished the outer lips. Nice to have the disclosure about the right side damage on a clean Carfax listing, however, didn’t see documents or details. Also, no records between 2008 and 2026.
