302-Powered 1967 Ford Mustang Coupe Holman-Moody FIA-Spec Race Car

This 1967 Ford Mustang coupe is one of approximately 375 examples manufactured at Ford’s Lima, Peru, assembly plant starting in October 1966, and it was purchased new by Limeño road rally racer Cristobal Galjuf, who drove regionally under the name “Batman” to hide his racing activities from his father. The car was driven daily through 1971, when it was shipped to Holman–Moody (H&M) of Charlotte, North Carolina, for conversion to an “FIA-spec” racer, and it was campaigned by Galjuf in six road rallies across Central and South America during the racing season that followed, including first overall in the 3,000-kilometer Frontera-Frontera that was held on the Carretera Panamericana through the Andes Mountains of Chile and Peru. A refresh was subsequently performed at Holman–Moody in anticipation of continued racing, but the car was soon retired, changing hands several times before landing in Lima’s Museo de Autos Antiguos Colección Nicolini, where it was discovered and purchased in partially refurbished condition by a US collector in 2011. The restoration was completed by Cameron Bishop at Cuttingedge Hotrods and Fabrication of Phoenix, Arizona, in 2020. This Holman-Moody-built Mustang race car was purchased by its current owner in 2025 and is now offered by Foreign Affairs Motorsports, a BaT Local Partner, on consignment in Florida with documentation and a bill of sale.
It is believed that the car was flown in 1971 to Miami, where Holman-Moody picked up the car for transport to their facility and completion of the build. The work by Holman-Moody is claimed to have topped $20k and was finished in 1972. Upon completion, Galjuf reportedly rented Road Atlanta raceway to test the car, and following that test, the car was disassembled into parts and flown to Peru to avoid detection. Galjuf then raced the car using 400-sequence race numbers, achieving several wins before retiring from racing.
Restoration work was completed by Cameron Bishop at Cuttingedge Hotrods and Fabrication of Phoenix, Arizona, in 2020. The acid-dipped body is finished in red with race livery and Holman-Moody decals, and exterior details include X-taped headlights, a lift-off hood, hood and trunk pins, a left-side mirror, chrome bumpers, and side-exit exhaust outlets.
The H&M Talladega Super Speedway front end makes use of reinforced and gusseted A-arms with dual shocks and custom valving, while an H&M Trans-Am setup with dual shocks and rally springs is employed out back. 3½-inch-wide front and 2½-inch-wide rear drum brakes were also fitted.
The car rolls on gold-painted H&M double-center steel wheels mounted with 8.00×15″ Goodyear Blue Streak Sports Car Special racing tires.
The cabin houses a roll cage and stock bucket seats wrapped in black vinyl with bolt-on bolsters and Lifeline safety harnesses.
