1970 Fiat 500L
Presentation
This 1970 Fiat 500L is believed to have been passed from the original owner to their grandson and underwent a repaint in red, an interior re-trim in black vinyl, and mechanical work as part of a refurbishment completed from 2016 to 2017 at a cost of over €13k. The car is powered by an air-cooled 499cc twin paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is further equipped with a folding canvas roof panel, 12″ steel wheels, and chrome bumpers with tubular guards. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2026, this 500L is now offered in Italy with partial refurbishment records, an ASI certificate, and an Italian libretto.
The body was stripped, sandblasted, and underwent metalwork before being repainted red in the course of the aforementioned refurbishment. The chrome bumpers and tubular guards were also replaced at that time. A folding canvas roof panel, a driver-side mirror, and tri-bar headlights are further details.
The 12″ steel wheels were refinished as part of the refurbishment process. They wear polished hubcaps and are mounted with 125 Pirelli Cinturato tires. Braking is handled by drums at all four corners.
The cabin houses individual front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black vinyl, which extends to the door and side panels. Appointments include a heater, an under-dash storage cubby, front shoulder belts, and sun visors. Work as part of the refurbishment involved re-trimming the seats as well as replacing the dashboard, carpets, seals, and other interior components.
A split-spoke steering wheel fronts a replacement trapezoidal Veglia instrument cluster featuring a 130-km/h speedometer, a fuel-level readout, and warning lights. The five-digit odometer shows 68k kilometers (~42k miles), approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership.
The air-cooled 499cc inline-twin sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.

I purchased a Cinquecento 500 Giardiniera from Stefano a few months back and could not have been more impressed with the quality of the fit and finish of his restoration. He delivered the little gem in an enclosed van to me here in Italy and took great lengths to explain every detail.
