Presentation

This 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 is one of 2,048 fastbacks produced for the model year, and it was built in January 1967 and specified in Dark Moss Green with a black interior and a 428ci Police Interceptor V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission. It was delivered new to Johnny Bolton Ford of Maitland, Florida, and it was optioned with the Extra Cooling package, the Interior Décor Group, and a fold-down rear seat. The car was repainted under prior ownership, and it is powered by a 428ci Police Interceptor V8 linked to a four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in 2016 along with the power brake booster and the power steering control valve. Front bucket seats are trimmed in black and accompanied by an AM radio, a roll bar with inertia-reel seatbelts, and Stewart-Warner auxiliary gauges. This GT500 was purchased by the current owner in 2015 and is now offered on dealer consignment by a BaT Local Partner with a Deluxe Marti Report, a Shelby American invoice and order documentation, service records, and a Texas title.

The 15″ five-spoke Magstar alloy wheels wear Shelby Cobra center caps and are mounted with reproduction E70-15 Goodyear Speedway tires. GT500 models utilized an upgraded suspension system with heavy-duty coil springs and an anti-roll bar up front in addition to heavy-duty leaf springs out back. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. The power brake booster and power steering control valve were rebuilt in 2016.

The car was ordered with a fold-down rear seat, a Interior Décor Group, and the Courtesy Light Group, and the seats are trimmed in black vinyl. A roll bar with inertia-reel seatbelts was standard in Shelby cars, and a Carroll Shelby signature adorns the glove box in this example.

The woodgrain steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer as well as a clock and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Stewart-Warner gauges for oil pressure and amperage are mounted below the radio. The five-digit odometer shows 29k miles.

I know the fiberglass parts created a little havoc, I know the hood on my #618 was an original hood. Thee car was 21 years old when I bought it , so yes it absolutely could’ve been replaced before I bought it. I currently own #478 and you can see in the upper scoops where the holes for the side marker lights were filled in, no wiring there. Point being is that the glass parts were coming, going and changing through production.

@BobGT500 I believe some very late-production non-A/C cars received louvered hoods at the factory because inventories of the standard smooth hoods ran low near the end of the 1967 build run. But most non-A/C cars with louvered hoods today have over-the-counter replacement hoods installed later by dealers or restorers following an accident or restoration.

I owned #618, Moss w white parchment. I bought it in 88 and it came with a louvered hood, it was bowed so it was showing its age. I had it for nine years. I also saw a Gt350 a couple of years ago at a local cruise night and the owner had the car for a very long time and his was louvered too. Non a/c cars to be clear

Sundown, boats on the water and a '67 Shelby- doesn't get much better than that.

@CarCaveSRQ Thanks for the extra photos. Do you have photos of the trunk? How many owners has this car had according to the registry?

@fhelmet That was addressed earlier in the comments as well. The louvered hood along with the LeMans stripes were added during restoration under previous ownership as documented in the registry. Current owner has had the car since 2015 and was acquired in this specification. Cosmetic restoration was done in 2011 according to the registry. The car came from Texas and Florida where the added cooling value of the louvres would be beneficial. @daveb9 Here is the original factory stamping on the center spoke of the steering wheel, and the tire pressure sticker is present on the glovebox. Hope everyone has a great rest of their weekend! @bstyles Thank you for your comments and expertise on these cars!

@fhelmet re: "When did the hood get replaced with an A/C louvre version? The registry has it non-louvered from the factory."
For clarification, the louvered hoods were only factory-fitted to GT 500 air-conditioned cars. That said, if you're going to drive and enjoy a '67 GT500, a louvered hood makes a big difference in keeping the engine running at cooler temps.

@oldcanuck, Ivy green is better on a 66, Dark Moss Green on a 67. Stripes on Brittney Blue or Wimbledon white.

@matt178 re: "why’s the Vin blacked out in Marti report… seems odd there was a fake Gt500 this colour that came through Canada not long ago?"
It's an older practice that was designed to keep unknown cars from being created. Really irrelevant with known cars such as this one. Besides, if you look at the Marti report included in the listing, there are four locations of the sequence number, only three of which are redacted...

When I restored my nightmist blue 67 500 my wife thought it wasn't a shelby without stripes and prefered the stripes. For me I'm 50/50 so was a good investment to have the privilege of restoring a lifelong dream car! They don't come along everyday!

I was a kid in the late 60’s; too young to drive but lucky enough to have two older sisters who dated guys that were all in on pony cars. One of which had a new green 1967 Shelby Fastback! I was always cadging rides up the steep hill we lived on in North Vancouver. I can still feel the g forces and I still love to tromp on it going up hills! Thanks for the memories. GLWTA

Picture 259 is incorrect regarding fog lights, and the louvered hood and Magstar wheels were added sometime later in this '67s lifetime. The restoration presented here, is certainly much better and more correct compared to the last several seen here. Ivy green is a great color.

"Too bad about the addition of the top stripes"..... if you go through the 1967 SAAC Registry it's about a 50/50 split. When I bought my '67 almost 10 years ago, my OTT stripes had been added during a previous paint restoration which I didn't particularly like.... but like most, they have grown on me. At shows or C&C I get more positive comments than negative regarding them. Hey look.... correct side stripes ! That's rare.....

@seller Pictures of the trunk would be good as well. Good looking car and nice to see the paperwork connected to this car. Just FYI, GT500's had a SPEC pumpkin which this is not. GLWTA

This is an exceptional specification. It’s increasingly rare to find a vehicle with this level of originality, provenance, and pedigree. A true original that represents everything that makes these cars so special! GLWTS

Poster-worthy photos with the sun going down over the ocean behind this iconic American muscle car! Wow!
Oct 28, 2026 · 06:17
Great presentation of an iconic Shelby in one of the best colors. Too bad about the addition of the top stripes (not original for 1967 models). How many owners has the car had? Why the replacement louvered hood (meant for cars with A/C)? Is the rear window a reproduction missing the etched centerline? Is there a tire pressure decal in the glove compartment? I would remove the "Caution Fan" sticker on the radiator fan shroud and install radial tires. Seller should post a photo of the back of the bottom spoke of the steering wheel to show the text there.

Thank you for the kind words and opening bids! We are excited to offer this stunning Shelby!
@angustami The Extra Cooling Package was standard equipment on all 1967 Shelby GT350 and GT500 models to provide additional cooling for the high-performance engines.
The Extra Cooling Package Included:
• Larger Radiator: A heavy-duty, high-capacity radiator compared to standard Mustang units.
• Fan Blade & Shroud: A specialized fan blade and fan shroud designed to increase airflow and prevent overheating.
• Hoses and Hardware: Factory FoMoCo heavy-duty hoses and clamps.
• All 1967 Shelby units received these components regardless of whether air conditioning was ordered or not.

Nice return on investment. New car was under $4,000.00. Those were the days.

IMO, this is the quintessential representation of a GT500, regardless of year. The color, the wheels, the lights, the hood...this is perfection.

Welcome to the auction for this 1967 Shelby GT500, finished in Dark Moss Green over a Black Decor interior and powered by its rebuilt, original 428 cubic-inch V8. The engine carries a casting date of 6M22 (December 22, 1966) and casting number C6ME-A. Power is delivered through the numbers-matching four-speed transmission, which carries a Ford VIN matching the Marti Report. Ford VIN stampings are also present on both front fender aprons. The transmission is dated 6M12 (December 12, 1966) and retains its RUG-S tag, while the rear differential is date-coded 6J7 (October 7, 1966). Originally completed by Shelby American on April 18, 1967, this GT500 was sold new through Johnny Bolton Ford Inc. of Maitland, Florida, to Mr. K. Everly of Winter Park, Florida. Accompanying documentation includes the Shelby American Vehicle Invoice, Marti Deluxe Report, DSO, Shelby Registry Report, and records from the current ownership. The current owner acquired the car in 2015 and has added approximately 600 miles since. With its documented Shelby American history, rebuilt original 428 V8, numbers-matching four-speed transmission, and attractive Dark Moss Green finish, this GT500 offers a compelling opportunity for the next caretaker. Please feel free to reach out through Contact Seller with any questions. Best of luck to all bidders!
