1995 Porsche 911 Carrera Speedster by Gunther Werks

This 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera is one of 25 examples modified by Gunther Werks to their Speedster specification in a build that was completed in 2023. The factory-delivered cabriolet was stripped of its convertible top, side windows, and windshield prior to receiving chassis reinforcements, a number of carbon-fiber body panels, a shortened windscreen, a Speedster-style tonneau cover, and a repaint in black with ghosted side stripes and bronze “Porsche” lettering. Power is provided by a Rothsport Racing-built 4.0L flat-six with MoTeC engine management linked with a Getrag G50 six-speed manual transaxle with custom ratios and a limited-slip differential. The “Buenos Aires” commission rides on staggered 18″ forged wheels and is further equipped with Brembo GTR brakes, JRZ electronic adaptive suspension, a front axle lift system, and a ducktail rear spoiler. Inside, carbon-fiber bucket seats upholstered in black leather are accompanied by carbon-fiber and aluminum trim, automatic climate control, and a Porsche Classic stereo. This Gunther Werks Speedster is now offered by the selling dealer with an accident-free Carfax report and a clean Florida title.
Based in Huntington Beach, California, Gunther Werks was founded by Peter Nam, CEO of carbon-fiber parts manufacturer Vorsteiner, and began customizing 993-series 911s in the spirit of the GT3 variant that appeared later in Porsche’s history. Each cabriolet is stripped to its steel unibody, which is outfitted with carbon-fiber body panels including a revised hood, widened front and rear fenders, bumpers, and side skirts. An integrated roll cage and hoop are added to provide support for the Speedster-style tonneau cover, and the carbon-fiber shortened windscreen frame and cowl incorporate aluminum reinforcements.
This example is finished in black with ghosted side stripes and bronze “Porsche” lettering. A carbon-fiber ducktail spoiler with a ram air scoop is installed out back, and further exterior details include bi-LED “Black Edition” headlights with milled aluminum housings as well as LED taillights and turn signals, honeycomb mesh grille inserts, body-color mirror caps, exposed carbon-fiber trim, and twin exhaust tips exiting through the rear valance. The car is not equipped with a convertible top or side windows.
The Gunther Werks build included widening the front track and strengthening the chassis with rear bracing and stiffened sills. The car rides on bronze-finished multi-piece 18″ forged aluminum wheels, which are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires that measure 295/30 up front and 335/30 out back. Braking is via black-painted Brembo GTR six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers over two-piece slotted and ventilated rotors with braided lines.
The carbon-fiber bucket seats are upholstered in black leather that extends to the door caps, lower dash, and center console. Exposed carbon-fiber is present throughout the cabin, and the car was reportedly optioned with five-piece carbon-fiber floor covers. Additional amenities include a slotted forged aluminum passenger’s footrest and pedals as well as black floor mats with gray piping, black leather door pulls, automatic climate control, a Porsche Classic Radio, and a Sport mode button ahead of the milled aluminum shifter. The rear seats have been deleted.
The carbon-fiber steering wheel is trimmed in black leather with a gray centering stripe and frames VDO instrumentation including a central 9k-rpm tachometer, a 180-mph speedometer, a pair of combination gauges, and an analog clock. The six-digit odometer shows 18 miles since completion of the build.

The Huntington Beach, California-based company launched in 2017 with a “remastered” Coupe, of which only 25 were built. A Speedster followed in 2020, offering an even more focused and unfiltered driving experience than the Coupoe. Also limited to just 25 examples, all have been allocated, making the example offered here an incredible find. The Speedster’s remastering process begins with a 993-generation 911 Carrera Cabriolet stripped down to bare metal and the chassis fully restored before being reinforced with carbon fiber components, including additional structural bracing in the space previously occupied by the rear seats. A carbon fiber windshield frame and cowl with aluminum reinforcements, along with a roll cage and roll hoop—integrated as support for the tonneau cover—combine with other reinforcement measures to create what Gunther Werks claims is a convertible chassis twice as stiff as the standard coupe with no added weight penalty. Underpinning the carbon fiber exoskeleton is a proprietary chassis setup with a bespoke damper system, , custom suspension arms with revised geometry, uprated anti-roll bars, lightweight uprights, a front strut brace, and a hydraulic front lift system to help with speed bumps and driveway ramps. I thought the GW Speedster looked good in Olive, but in black just looks amazing! I love that you can take your rusty banged up Porsche, just a few (Hundred Thousand) dollars and then end result is a Picture Perfect Porsche!
