Ex–Mac Davis 2006 Ford GT
Presentation
This 2006 Ford GT is one of seven for its model year that were finished in Midnight Blue and specified without racing stripes. It was purchased new by the late Grammy-winning singer and songwriter, Mac Davis, and its dashboard was autographed by his friend, Carroll Shelby. Powered by a supercharged 5.4-liter V8, it features a six-speed manual gearbox, a helical limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes, air conditioning, and Ebony leather upholstery. The vehicle was exported to Canada and acquired by the seller in 2012, and it has 6k miles. This no-stripe Ford GT is offered in Canada with previous registration cards, manufacturer’s literature, service records, factory car cover, an accident-free Carfax report, and British Columbia registration in the seller’s name.
The Camilo Pardo–designed GT was styled as an homage to the Le Mans–winning GT40 racing cars of the 1960s, and it features aluminum body panels over an extruded-aluminum space frame and roll-bonded floors.
This example is one of seven for 2006 that were finished at the factory in Midnight Blue and specified with neither side stripes nor over-the-top racing stripes. Features include HID headlights, fog lights, side air intakes, a vented hood, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and a dual center-exit exhaust system.
The 18″ and 19″ BBS cast aluminum wheels wear Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Scuderia tires. The double-wishbone suspension has unequal-length aluminum control arms along with coilover shocks and front and rear stabilizer bars. The Brembo braking system features four-piston monoblock calipers with cross-drilled and ventilated rotors that measure 14” up front and 13.2” out back. The brake fluid was replaced in June 2023.
The cockpit is trimmed in Ebony leather and houses manually adjustable seats designed by Sparco that feature carbon-fiber shells as well as GT40-style ventilation grommets and harness slots. The central tunnel is topped by an aluminum console with rotary climate controls, and the aluminum floor panels are covered by carpet floor mats embroidered with the car’s production sequence. Additional interior amenities include air conditioning, remote keyless entry, push-button ignition, and an aftermarket shift knob.
An autographed message from Carroll Shelby to Mac Davis is written on the dashboard.

I purchased a 1969 Plymouth Barracuda conv in Dublin, Ireland. The car was manufactured as an export in Hamtrack, MI. I did not know what to expect at the customs house when the inspector opened the container. He looked over the paperwork, stamped the import as Returning American goods, no duties were due. Getting registered at MVB in New York was a nightmare, finally registered. You should have no issues getting the car back home. Good luck.

Just a little advise @seller, as to which you do you. Handle the service to get the car to 95% of your buyers. Nearly every auction I have seen that the seller chooses to rely this task on the buyer, they eat it in the sale price. Just my .02. It’s a beauty for sure and trying to see if I can move things around to buy it so don’t discount myself buying this stunning GT! Just some advice from an active seller!! Good luck!

Just saw an instagram posting by Michael Martocci about the VIN on this car ending in 1554. Carroll Shelby's blue no stripe he ordered for himself is 1553. In the write up above this is addressed. After miles on the odometer were recorded as kilometers, a mileage inconsistency is listed in a December 2012 entry on the Carfax report, which notes that it may the result of a clerical error. The odometer on the car is correct and is expressed in miles. It was a clerical error.

I have spoken to two different customs brokerages and would be happy to put the Buyer in touch. The Buyer should of course get their own advice. As stated in comments below the car was manufactured in the USA, registered in CA and should not have any issue returning to the USA. The VIN starts with a 1 which confirms that it was produced in the USA. There are no tariffs on a vehicle that was made in the USA returning to the USA. There have been no modifications to the car. As a buyer I recommend a customs broker to assist with paperwork for a smooth process. An import account needs to be created by filling in some forms:
1-5 is needed if completing as an individual. 4-5 are needed if completing for a company. 1. SSN Card (front and back) and Passport/US Visa (If applicable - you are driving car over the border)
2. Proof of Address in the US
3. Address in Canada for Pick up (Vancouver)
4. Customs Border Protection (CBP) 5106 Form
5. Power of Attorney (POA) Form
A customs broker will charge a fee (which I was quote $795 USD), a US Customs bond (max fee of $500)

I’ll add my experience with importing a car from Canada
In May of 24 I purchased a 2011 Corvette that was a Canadian spec car and located in Calgary at the time of purchase. I was told that I had two options importing the car back to the states. 1. Have the car shipped by a third party which would require the car to be quarantined (in Seattle for my case) for 30 days. Then delivered to me
2. Pick the car up myself and cross the border, submit the necessary documentation and have an inspection done wherever I crossed back into the US
I chose option 2. The process took about 20 minutes and they never looked at my car. It was snowing sideways when I crossed so that might have played a part in the inspection being skipped. I did not pay any fees at customs or when I registered the car in my home state other than the typical state taxes and registration fees. This is due to the fact that my car was built in the US. Obviously this car falls into that same category
I completed my purchase before the recent tariffs were imposed so that is the variable in this scenario but I suspect that the same circumstances would be applied to this car since again it was originally manufactured in the US
If I were interested in this car I would call one of the less busy crossing locations and see if you can get any additional clarification concerning this matter

Typically even if a car was originally delivered to the US, if it has been out of the country for more than 3 years, you are going to have to pay the import tariffs. Obviously the tariff situation with Canada is complicated and dynamic so you may want to research further to see if the 3 year test currently applies

Professional football games are now in full swing and I really don’t care. But just like how the refreshingly real Ford GT cannot be ignored, I can’t ignore a classic football movie, like the refreshingly real and colorful “North Dallas Forty.” Mac Davis was surrounded by a stellar cast and was a natural in his first and best movie, which I consider to be the second greatest football movie ever made. Revisiting this listing is better than any NFL game played today. That’s my take.

As requested I took this photo last night of the blue LED lights. It is easy to remove if you prefer and the light is controlled by remote attached to the key FOB. It accentuates the engine at night which really draws a lot of attention. The midnight blue colour of this car at dusk is really incredible.

@SandiaPAL both Ford GT wheel options were made my BBS. The optional and more popularly chosen wheels were forged. I believe the 6 spoke wheels shown here were cast. Personally I prefer the stock offerings as I think they better capture the spirit of the original GT40 knockoffs.

The wheels on the 2002 concept car are closer in style to the base BBSs than the optional lightweight one's. I think thats why they look "right" on the GT. JMHO... of course.

It's such a treat to own a GT. Whether you putt around town, track it, or take a long hwy cruise through the canyons, however you slice it, it's always so good. Plus, service is a breeze. Like everyone else here, I think this is spec-tacular! The standard wheels hit so nicely on this spec.

As a young mechanic I loved the GT 40 on the Ford parts boxes . As a dealership vice president and general manager I was privileged to place orders for several 2005 and 2006 Ford GTs . We purchased every new GT we could locate from dealers who were scared to keep them in inventory . I ordered several combinations of equipment and colors . I never ordered this combination and now that we get to view the fantastic layout pictorial I think this is how the car was meant to be . Absolutely the best looking GT and I agree with the comment about the speaker between the seats that looks like an afterthought . And the wheels look great . On looks alone this car should ring the bell .

I’m especially excited to see what this car brings as I have its closest kin out there with mine being the 05 with base wheels side strip delete. The only difference between mine and this one is I have the McIntosh radio, billet A arms and gray painted calipers!

Appreciate the community of GT lovers. Thanks for your posts. I have posted a picture of the complete FOB set to come with the vehicle. 2 factory sets, 1 extra set I ordered from FORD, 2 remotes for the blue LED lights in the engine compartment (easily removed if you don't like...but they are incredibly cool...happy to post a pic).

Since I bought a new 2006 in this exact spec (but sold it shortly after, oops!) I'm biased, but this is clearly the best configuration. No stripes, no fugly fat subwoofer crammed between the seats, and the 60's-inspired wheels instead of the 80's-ish optional ones. (BTW both wheels were made by BBS.)

This morning we're in Atlanta with our GT and a group of about 7 other GT owners heading north into the Blue Ridge mountains for a 3-day group drive 👍🏻 so using my phone here's the abbreviated version of this car's configuration numbers: For both years 05/06 only 21 were made in Midnight Blue without the over-the-top painted stripes and with the no-charge "Body side stripe tape delete" option shown on this car's window sticker. 8 of those with the base black calipers. 7 with the base Sanyo radio. 6 with the base cast BBS wheels. The listing details show grey calipers. The pictures and window sticker clearly show black calipers which are correct for a TRUE no-option car. Gun metal grey calipers were an option. This car according to Ford GT paint and option matrix is 1 of 4 stripe delete, black caliper, cast wheel cars produced in 2006. And…. Midnight Blue is the best color!!

No stripes lets me see what the car really looks like -- I think stripes detract from the design, they're what you see first. And what I see, especially in this rich blue, is a Ferrari-level design, and that's a very good thing.

I just noticed the seller’s name @thxelvis. That’s cool all by itself. It’s exponentially cooler considering that Mac Davis wrote four songs for Elvis Presley including “In the Ghetto” and “A Little Less Conversation.” Yeah, I think this seller’s OK.

This Midnight Blue GT with its stripe delete choice is really something to behold! Allows the car’s beautiful body lines to pop! @Seller are you aware if any of the current US/Canada trade/tariff restrictions would hamper exporting back to the US? I see this GT was originally in California prior to its Canadian arrival, which should help. Although, I’m a fish out of water on these details. Thanks!
