166-Mile 2005 Ford GT

This 2005 Ford GT was ordered in Mark IV Red over Ebony leather with all four factory options and has 166 miles. Power is provided by a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 linked with a Ricardo six-speed manual gearbox and a helical limited-slip differential. Equipment includes forged aluminum BBS wheels, red-finished brake calipers, painted White stripes, a McIntosh stereo system, and Sparco bucket seats. The car was sold new at Legacy Ford in McDonough, Georgia, and has also spent time in Missouri and California. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2020, this Ford GT is now offered in California with the owner’s manual, a battery tender, a tire inflation kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Missouri title.
The Camilo Pardo-designed GT was styled as an homage to the Le Mans-winning GT40 racing cars of the 1960s and features aluminum body panels over an extruded-aluminum space frame and roll-bonded floors. This example is one of 766 finished in Mark IV Red for the model year and features optional over-the-top white stripes and Ford GT graphics as well as HID headlights, side air intakes, a vented hood, a front splitter, a rear diffuser, and a dual center-exit exhaust system.
Factory-optional BBS forged lightweight aluminum wheels measure 18″ up front and 19″ out back and are mounted with Goodyear tires. The Brembo braking system features optional red-painted four-piston monoblock calipers with cross-drilled and ventilated rotors that measure 14″ up front and 13.2″ out back.
Ebony leather upholsters the manually adjusted Sparco seats, which feature carbon-fiber shells, GT40-style ventilation grommets, and harness slots. The central tunnel is topped by an aluminum console with rotary climate controls, and rubber mats cover the aluminum floor panels. Additional interior amenities include a McIntosh CD stereo, remote keyless entry, and push-button ignition.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel is affixed to a tilting and telescoping column ahead of the GT40-inspired instrument array consisting of a central tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline and an offset 220-mph speedometer. Toggle-switch controls are positioned under additional gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, boost, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 166 miles.
The mid-mounted 5.4-liter DOHC V8 features an aluminum block, cylinder heads, and pistons in addition to a Lysholm screw-type supercharger, a dry-sump lubrication system, and a water-to-air intercooler. Factory-rated output was 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.

These FGTs are on a completely different level from just about any other American-made car. I’ve seen them sitting in collections alongside multi-million-dollar exotics, and they fit right in. They have the presence, pedigree, and exclusivity to hold their own with the best cars in the world. They will continue to climb in value.

Absolutely beautiful car. My prediction it will hit high seven hundreds. Maybe even low eights. However, I would like to bring up an interesting question. How many of these cars are still on the MSO. And what is the value on a MSO car.

@FunWithCars. The description of a "Lysholm type twin screw supercharger" is correct. It also has 2.3 liter displacement. Aftermarket superchargers have more displacement.

I dunno. Venting helps me. Reading other people’s regrets makes my own a tiny bit easier to bear. Like the really STUPID decision I made over 10 years ago not to dig into a retirement account to buy one of these.

@stephen_becker, this isnt a FGT therapy session where we get to vent about how we shoulda, woulda, coulda, these cars aren’t going anywhere but North partner. Look at my sales, 163 mile red sold few years back $420k… Such is life…

With the recent extreme and well deserved increase in value more and more of these low mileage cars will be seen $$$$$$$$$ we need these examples to preserve the originality of them . There’s plenty of us out there driving and enjoying them let the good times roll I’ll keep Hagerty on speed dial to continue to up my declared value. Ford GT = money in the Bank $$$$$$$

@jfkauto my apologies, Referencing your car is the easiest to do, you were at the right place at the right time, and got a great deal. I see what these cars are doing, there amazing, I get it, I was simply starting that I see the red cars suffer a bit compared to others better colors, and went on to reference the one bought at GAA. Nothing More.

These Ford GT's are so much fun to drive, I took mine out this morning and the experience is almost indescribable. I have other supercars as well but the Ford GT is by far the best. Until you drive one you will never understand the why you need one of these in your collection. I do think they deserve to be DRIVEN!!!

@arabella2010 You make a fair point, but per Hagerty the 2005-2006 Ford GT's jumped in value by 35% in 2nd quarter. Did you notice the blue GT with 3900 miles sell the next month for $616,000? I sold mine too early. But in all honesty I bought a 3.9 mile Yellow in 2021 for in the 4's and sold it in Sept that year for $575.......I wish I had kept it. I see high 700's on this red one today

Oh boy. I cant even guess on the final price on this one. If I had a hot tub time machine.....I would go back to 2005 and would have bought 2. One to drive and one to sell.

@arabella2010 With all due respect, using the GAA auction sale to benchmark this car is unfair to the seller and misses the most critical variable: That car was snapped up by a dealer at what was essentially wholesale, or even a below wholesale price. The GT climate has changed dramatically in the past several months. Did you see the 4 mile Heritage that sold last year at Gooding Pebble Beach for 720k? Let that one sink in to show the dramatic shift in 2026 pricing.

@arabella2010 the car you are referring to I know very well and are personal friends with JFK Auto who owns the car. I have bought a few cars from them. I know for a fact they have turned down over $1,000,000 for that car and just sold a yellow one recently for not far off. I wish we could all go back and buy that car for that, doesn’t seem like it will happen.

This pristine example obviously will be a curated museum piece and never get driven, so let's not go into that discussion. Instead, if any of you who are in the museum or very long term storage business, please comment on the best ways to preserve such a specimen. How about soft parts like rubber or leather? How do museums preserve, say, a Model J Duesenburg? For the record again, I'm in the opposite camp and my FGT ain't no museum piece and never will be--now approaching 97Kmi. But I'm beginning to appreciate the purpose and role of museum pieces too.
