Presentation

This 1968 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior was acquired by the seller out of Italy in May 2019 and relocated to Portugal, where it underwent a multi-year build completed in 2026. Work involved stripping and repainting the Bertone bodywork in red as well as installing a 2.0L Twin Spark inline-four, a rebuilt five-speed manual transmission, a Gripper limited-slip differential, and various Alfaholics body, chassis, and brake components. The car wears a carbon-fiber hood, trunk lid, and doors and is fitted with 15″ GTA-style alloy wheels, Bilstein adjustable shocks, AP Racing front brake calipers, and an OKP steering box with a high-strength CNC-machined 7075 Ergal aluminum housing. Inside, black leather–trimmed factory seats are accompanied by a MOMO steering wheel, Jaeger instrumentation, and an Autodelta-style roll bar. The engine is equipped with dual Weber carburetors and controlled by a programmable Megasquirt ECU, while the transmission is outfitted with a close-ratio “Nanni” gearset. This modified stepnose is now offered with service build records and photos, spare parts, and Portuguese registration in the seller’s name.

First offered in 1965, the GT 1300 Junior would remain in production for over a decade as the entry-level model in the Alfa Romeo coupe range. This stepnose example was sandblasted to bare metal, underwent body repairs, and was fitted with steering-box and crossmember reinforcement plates as part of the aforementioned build. It was then fitted with a carbon-fiber hood, trunk lid, and doors from Alfaholics and repainted red.

A lightweight windshield and Perspex rear screen from OKP were installed following the paintwork along with Lexan side glass. Additional exterior modifications added in the course of the project include GTA-style door handles and lightweight front indicator and sidelight brackets as well as a replacement rear number-plate frame and headlight rings. The bumpers have been removed, and the seller notes that the left door is misaligned, there is a dent in the right rocker panel, and there are scratches in the right door glass.

The 15″ GTA-style alloy wheels from Alfaholics are mounted with 195/55 Nankang NS-2R tires. The braking hydraulics have been upgraded with an Alfaholics adjustable dual-circuit brake balance box as well as their reservoir and feedline kit. Stopping power is provided by AP Racing four-piston and Alfaholics Superleggera dual-piston rear calipers over two-piece ventilated front and solid rear discs. An OKP steering box with a high-strength CNC-machined 7075 Ergal aluminum housing and front hubs are fitted up front, and additional steering and suspension modifications from Alfaholics include a uniball aluminum T-bar, drilled trailing arms, adjustable top suspension arms, quick steering arms, lightweight lock stops, rose-jointed track rods, anti-roll bars, adjustable 2¼” small springs, and Bilstein PSS10 adjustable shocks. The wheel bearings were also replaced under current ownership.

The cabin houses the factory seats trimmed in black leather that sit ahead of an Autodelta-style roll bar. Work as part of the interior refresh involved refurbishing the dash, heater, and seats as well as replacing the headliner, parcel shelf, door panels, roll-down window mechanisms, and seatbelts. The floors are not fitted with carpets, though removable front mats are supplied. An uninstalled replacement rear bench seat is also included in the sale.

A MOMO Prototipo steering wheel is accompanied by an Alfaholics pedal set and an OMP dead pedal, and brake-bias can be adjusted via a dial next to the floor-mounted shifter. Jaeger instrumentation consists of a retrofitted 10k-rpm tachometer as well as a refurbished 220-km/h speedometer and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, oil temperature, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 2,900 kilometers (~1,800 miles), which is said to represent the distance driven since completion of the build.

Hi, first of all congrats for this sublime build.
Sorry for my silly question but does the car has A/C ? If not, is possible to add A/C on it quite simply ?
I drive my cars very often in various temperatures and A/C can be necessary sometimes! Thanks a lot.

Hello @TDS993 ! Yes, the heater works. It even got a new motor and valve. Actually, I've never noticed any gas smell inside. I have another classic car where every time I drive it, my clothes end up smelling like gas ;), Wheel horsepower (rwhp), yes!

Really liking this! As others have mentioned, a nice blend of track and street. I always felt 120hp just wasn't quite enough. A few questions. Does this have working heat or at least defroster? Almost all I have driven smell like exhaust or gas inside. How is this? Can I assume the dyno is rwhp? Lastly, perhaps someone from Germany can answer. How difficult would it be to register with TÜV as a street car? Again, nicely done car!

I was at Spa just last weekend for the Alfa Cup, and was reminded that these Scalinos are not only beautifully designed, but also proper driver's cars. Is this car, in its current condition, homologated for normal road use in accordance with European regulations, so that it can be registered directly in another European country, or is it registered under a specific local provision, such as one applicable to historic vehicles?

@baltoboy The electrical system was completely overhauled. I even managed to adapt the original fuel gauge to work with the new sender unit supplied by Alfaholics.

@Baltoboy Yes, all switches work perfectly. On my end, I just need to cancel the registration. I can also help with delivering the vehicle to the Port of Leixões, which is about 40 km away. I have previously sold a motorcycle to California, and the process was relatively straightforward

Do all switches work? What are the hurdles to export the vehicle to the US

A tip of the Chapeau to "Jose" in your driving video. Driven appropriately, by an adult, giving a full demonstration of the cars capability. I am extremely jealous of your sports car roads in the backyard of Braga. Really well done.

Hi @RCEurope, I have already contacted Alfaholics but to no avail. The invoice for the wheels, GTA Style Wheel Nuts, and other components is also missing. They were bought over 5 years ago, I don't know if that's why.

Hi @Tobone - beautiful Alfa! I wish you the very best of luck with the auction. Regarding the missing Alfaholics invoices - you should call Alfaholics (ask for Ian but any/all of the guys there are pretty helpful) and they should be able to supply you with the duplicate invoices for the parts purchased. Cheers

@serialNSXer the car is tunned for 98RON. Portugal (Europe): Uses the RON value directly. When you see Petrol 95 or Petrol 98 at Portuguese gas stations, those numbers represent the RON rating. US uses a mathematical average of both methods, called the AKI (Anti-Knock Index) or RdON. The formula displayed on American pumps is (RON + MON) / 2. Since the MON value is lower, the average (AKI) used in the US always results in a number roughly 4 to 5 units lower than the European RON for the exact same fuel. So, exact comparison is that 95RON (europe) is the same as 91AKI (in USA) or 98RON is 93/94 AKI. But if needed, the car can be retuned to 95 RON
