Presentation

This 1968 Ford Mustang fastback was purchased by the seller out of Ohio in 2018 and modified over the next few years with a ProCharged 363ci stroker V8, a T56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission, a fabricated 9″ rear end, TCI front and rear suspension, Wilwood brakes, mini-tubbed rear wheel wells, BC Forged wheels, an electric power-steering system, and chromoly chassis bracing. Capable of producing over 879 horsepower at the rear wheels, the engine features a Dart block, AFR 205 heads, forged internals, a Holley Super Sniper 1200 EFI system, a ProCharger D-1X supercharger, methanol injection, a Ron Davis radiator, and ceramic-coated Doug’s headers feeding a dual 3″ exhaust system with Borla XR-1 mufflers. Finished in Chili Red over black vinyl upholstery, the car is also equipped with Corbeau front bucket seats, AutoMeter Carbon Fiber gauges, a billet shifter, a Sony head unit, and an NRG quick-release steering wheel on an Ididit column. This Mustang fastback is now offered with a Deluxe Marti Report, a car cover, records, and a clean Iowa title in the seller’s name.

The seller states that the car was repainted Chili Red under previous ownership and that the finish has since been wet-sanded and buffed. The seller notes that the car had rust in the front subframe rails, shock towers, and radiator core support when purchased, and the firewall-forward sheet metal has since been replaced. Additional build work included replacement of the floor pans, inner fenders, front frame rails, crossmember, and radiator support. Several chips and stress cracks are noted in the paint, and close-up photos of blemishes are shown in the gallery.

Just an FYI for anyone wondering. I just completed a 68 build with that same suspension. Words cant describe how much of an upgrade that TCI chassis is above the stock suspension. I live in a mountainous area and it is a flat out blast to drive on the mountain roads.

I just noticed a key part missing and dont know how, I guess because there is a picture in the listing but wanted to make sure everyone knew. This car does have electric power steering from EPAS performance. It has the underdash mount motor on the steering column which was shortened by ididit to accommodate it. It does have a potentiometer under the dash which you can adjust the level of assist you want to completely off. I will say with the wider stickier tires up front it helps tremendously when stationary, when the car moving you could steer it with one finger and its very responsive with all the suspension work!

This is better than any coyote build - literally my dream engine for my 68 right there. Also, they make some electric A/C kits now that could probably work around that supercharger. They are getting more popular and available - Just ideas for the next owner of this insane build

@Cart22 - pic 109, drivers side there is a little "notch" - usually it's stamped in this area on top of the apron. If you're able to find it and/or wiggle the dash vin out, post pics. I get the warm-fuzzies seeing all the VINs.

Hwy68, I did put a new dashpad on, the dash vin would be under that, as far as the fender vin, I guess Im not sure where that would be located, but I can say if its on the inner fender it is gone because the inner fenders were replaced with all the metal from firewall forward.

Jetman, the car does not have AC and for it to be installed the supercharger would have to come off. The car does however have a brand new working blower motor, heater core the factory controls, it does work but to be honest Ive never used it in the entire time Ive had the car because I usually only have driven it on nice days/nights and Ive never needed it. But if the new owner wanted to do that, they could sell the procharger and easily pay for a new restomod air kit and have it. The car would still make about 500hp without the procharger, but that wasnt for me, I always enjoyed windows down and the front windows flipped.

Great build: love that it's been driven properly. Sorry if I missed this in the gallery, but does it still have the fender vin / dash vin? If you've installed a new dash pad, it tends to get buried.

Absolutely! The cracking has been from several things, I did purchase the car with some of the cracks on there already such as the large one on the quarter panel in front of trunk, however it wasnt as large as that and when I put this much power to the chassis it didnt help the situation. When I bought the car I didnt want to spend the money on paint because it actually does look great after I wet sanded and buffed it and I wanted to drive the car a lot and not worry so much about that. The cracks are the paint, it is not a thick coat of body filler, I had the car down to a shell when I built it and have seen all the back sides of the metal, there is not rust located on any portion of the body. Any rust that I saw on the car was replaced as stated in the listing. As far as the cracks located on the fender lips, that was my bad back when I was rolling the fenders for clearance and I cranked it too much too fast and it cracked it (wasnt a happy moment in the garage). Each crack that I can see there is not this massive coat of body filler that's cracked underneath, now Im sure rhe car was skim coated when it was painted, but I can put my fingers and a gauge on both sides of the metal and gauge thickness where most of the cracks are and it is not outside of the norm, the fenders are all solid metal and I think the cracking in the paint boils down to the car not being prepped properly by whoever painted it. There are spots on the car such as inside the door jam right above the vin tag where you can see the paint chipped from riveting it on securely and you can see the factory lime gold right under the red. Also in the picture of the trunk you can see the lime gold right under it. On one if the paint chips that came off I could see directly underneath it was primed metal and no filler on the front fender next to the headlight bucket. I will say from 10ft away the car looks pristine, but I dont want anyone to think they are getting in door show quality paint job. The paint was the only thing I didnt touch on this car, however it is a solid car. Hopefully that helps, I can answer anything else you have if you need me to expand.

@Cart22, Incredibly cool car! Can you please shed some light on the cracking shown in the gallery? Is it simply paint cracking from autocrossing and tracking the car or is it body filler that has been applied too thick? It's hard to tell from the pics exactly what's going on there.

I am usually partial to "mostly-correct" Mustangs but appreciate nicely modified ones also. @seller - nice result here in not creating just another "copy" of some other versions that people do. (yes, there is a large market for them as well). Between the metal that needed to be replaced and the Marti report, this fastback was a perfect candidate to go and create a non-stock and different car. Adding to what @Hoppy18 indicated - this isn't just "another Red Mustang"!

Thanks for the kind comments! It is bittersweet to sell it, I built it as the car I always wanted. I know someone will probably ask why Im selling. Im currently building a pro touring 1965 f100 with a coyote thats even more of a build than this was and I would just like to have a little extra cash to not hold back and have it be perfect. This car has been an amazing ride and will always have the memories at car shows and cruises with my family, but its time to focus on the next idea I have in my head.

That was exactly my goal, I love the design of these, its timeless and I didnt want to mess with the styling a ton. But I wanted all the amenities and to drive better, plus be a rocket. The car is very tame to drive around, if you want to turn it up, you can, but I will say I drive it around with about 750rwhp and its plenty. I have turned it up to 24psi when I took it to dream cruise, the motor is making well over 1000hp (flywheel) at that level and its just too much for the street.

Sometimes you don't need to change a thing when a car has so many upgrades. Wheels & stance are fantastic plus almost 900hp that purrs, seems like a great allrounder.

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a good day and wanted to take a moment to say that I have poured my heart and soul into building this car and had the privilege of enjoying it the last 8 years Ive owned it. I built this car to be an excellent driver while being able to run with the best of them. I know some might see the power numbers and think this is a high maintenance race car, however it was built mainly to drive, to go on power tour and cruises, and drive on date night. It is a excellent riding car and with the adjustable suspension you can make it as cushy as you want! It will drive down the road at a little over 2000rpm going 70mph with minimal noise from the engine for what it is. I wish everyone happy bidding, and as always if you have any questions feel free to ask or message me on here with the contact seller button. If you wish to talk on the phone or have in depth questions I have no problems doing so as I know every nut and bolt on this car. Along with the sale will be various extra parts, I have extra pulleys and belts for the procharger, some extra exterior trim pieces, body plugs, factory front bumper that does have scratches on it so it was replaced with new front and back. As with any build like this there are so many things that are forgotten, so as I think of more I will update in the comments. Thanks!
