427 Stroker-Powered Superformance MKIII 5-Speed
Presentation
This Superformance MKIII was assembled c.2000 and acquired in 2022 by the seller, who tells us that its Roush Performance-built 427ci stroker V8 was fitted with a balanced rotating assembly and rebuilt cylinder heads during the following year. Finished in silver over black upholstery, the car also features a five-speed manual transmission, ceramic-coated side-outlet exhaust pipes, a hood scoop, a single roll hoop, staggered-width 17″ Halibrand-style wheels, a driver-side multi-point harness, AutoMeter gauges, and a JVC CD stereo. Additional work carried out in 2023 included overhauling the carburetor, cooling system, and distributor as well as changing the clutch, flywheel, clutch release bearing, spark plugs, fuel lines, and valve cover gaskets. Now showing 8k miles, this Cobra replica is offered with a soft top, a Superformance-branded car cover, and a New York title in the seller’s name that describes the vehicle as a 2000 Custom.
The fiberglass bodywork is finished in silver. Elements include a hood scoop, a single roll hoop, a left-front fender-mounted side mirror, wind wings, vinyl partial quarter panel covers, front bumperettes, and a chrome rear bumper with bumperettes.
Halibrand-style 17″ wheels with black-finished centers are wrapped in 275/40 front and 315/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport All-Season 4 tires with production date codes from 2022. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes.
The bucket seats are trimmed in black, and a multi-point harness is provided for the driver. Appointments include a lockable glovebox, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger-side lap belt, and a JVC CD stereo.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts AutoMeter instrumentation comprising 160-mph speedometer, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for voltage, oil temperature, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 8k miles, approximately 1,800 of which were added under current ownership.
The small-block Ford V8 is reportedly a 427ci stroker built by Roush Performance. The seller tells us that the engine was fitted with rebuilt cylinder heads in 2023, at which time it also received a balanced rotating assembly featuring a custom-built crankshaft, 6.125″ connecting rods, and flat-top pistons to fit the 0.040″ overbore. Additional work under current ownership included applying a Jet-Hot ceramic coating to the side-outlet exhaust pipes, rebuilding the distributor and the Holley carburetor, and replacing the following components:

@BadCreditGoodTaste, driving a Cobra around town is actually fairly tame. But driving one at speed is kind of like driving a hurricane. I've had mine for over 20 years so I speak from experience. And the hurricane part never gets old either.

I’d be curious about how this one drives compared with the visual experience. Cars like this can be just as rewarding from behind the wheel as they are sitting in the garage.
