327-Powered '29 Ford Model A Tudor Sedan 5-Speed w/Tri-Power Intake

This 1929 Ford Model A Tudor was transformed into a hot rod in 2015 by Bobby Hilton of Hilton’s Hot Rods and dubbed “Angry A.” The build is centered around a custom-built ’32-style highboy frame fabricated from flat stock and a Ross Race Engines–built 327ci V8 paired with a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission. Per the seller, additional modifications include a 2″ chopped original Henry Ford steel body, a Super Bell 5″ drop front axle with chrome hairpin radius rods, a four-link rear setup, front disc and rear drum brakes with Buick-style finned covers, 16″ steel wheels, Rochester two-barrel carburetors in a tri-power arrangement, and a custom interior. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2025, this Model A is now offered with a Virginia title listing the car as a 1929 Ford.
The original Henry Ford steel Tudor body is finished in in Sherwood Pearl using House of Kolors paint and features a 2″ chopped roof, an original-style vinyl cover, a tilt-out windshield, a windshield visor, front and rear spreader bars, and custom pinstriping. Various chips and scratches are present.
The 16″ steel wheels are mounted with Diamond Back Auburn Deluxe Radial tires measuring 5.50×16 up front and 7.50×16 at the rear. The custom chassis is a ’32-style high-boy frame built from flat stock. Suspension components include a Super Bell 5″ drop front axle, chrome hairpin radius rods, and chrome shocks. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, with finned Buick-style covers up front and an electric booster.
The cabin features a custom bench seat upholstered in black vinyl and oak roof bows.
The driver is provided a three-spoke wheel and a tall shifter along with Stewart-Warner gauges. The seller has driven ~800 of the 28k indicated miles.
The 327ci V8 was custom built by Ross Race Engines in 2015 as part of the build. The engine is fitted with an aluminum intake manifold, finned aluminum valve covers, Rochester two-barrel carburetors arranged in a tri-power setup, Edmunds custom air cleaners, ram’s horn exhaust manifolds, an MSD distributor and ignition wires, and a Powermaster PowerGen alternator. Cooling is provided by an aluminum Champion radiator.

@Valiantjim, that’s for sure, you can’t beat a Tudor for room.
I am 6 foot and I kind of feel like I am stretched out when I am driving.
They are even much easier to get in and out of..

Tudors are the one way to have plenty of legroom in a classic rod for us taller folks. They look good too. Tri Power and 5spd make it. Very kool, GLWTA!

A nice real deal driving vidideo for a well-built traditional hot-rod showing driving as you would really use it in today's driving activity. Not just driving around in a parking lot or city street. Seems solid in all driving aspects. Kool hot-rod.

This is one of those cars that just changes your whole state of mind while you're going down the road. It always puts a smile on my face! It runs and drives very well, and the acceleration will really get your heart pumping. It handles and stops very well.
The quality of the body and paint and of course that angry stance always makes it stand out at a show!
It was built to drive so I hope the new owner is someone who will drive it regularly and really enjoy it.

It was originally built as a hot rod in the 60's - 70's and when Bobby Hilton started his work, he told me the custom frame from that time was done so well that he had to keep it and build the car from there.

What a great looking rod. The tall section of the frame rails takes some getting used to for me but I guess the frame was made up of “flat stock” after all.
Lots of thought and fabrication went into that. I’d like to see more underside photos that show construction details. The car has some of my favorite things. The ubiquitous SBC. A 327 no less! I dig the cast iron exhaust manifolds with the gray coating. A five speed in a hot rod is so cool. I like automatics too. The painted wheel n tire combo is timeless. From what I can see it looks as though the fabrication was well done though out. To me you’re always taking a chance painting your rod any color other than black for resale purposes. But this color green really works in my estimation. Also I want to acknowledge the really good videos. Well done @seller. The sound of the SBC going through the gears will help your auction I’m pretty sure. This long rambling post brought to by strong coffee. Good luck all.
