"Competition (auctions): The act or process of trying to win or gain something that others are also trying to secure, meaning one party's gain is often another's loss.
Do y'all think auctions will produce a good deal for the buyer? Methinks the rise in car prices is mainly due to auctions with tens of thousands of "lookers" and bidders. My theory seems to be backed up by others. If a car has one bidder the price will be X; if it has hundreds of bidders the price will be Y. Sorry all for the esoteric comments but this will be another example methinks.

Again, I agree. I sold my red 500mile via RM 7 years ago for low 300s which was market. I had owned it for 3-4 years waiting for some appreciation. I guess it takes a frothy market like we are in to drive this and other similar cars to new levels. Can’t wait to see o real Monterey results !!!
I have a an ochre GTV 1750, designed by Giorgetto Giuliano, who , in 1999, was named car designer of the e century. Simple. Yes. But pretty. Like many ARs.
Certainly in the category of the Z8 where one scratches their head and says “why haven’t these appreciated “? I sold my red w 800 mi for 310 at auction 7 years ago. Had held it for 5 years hoping for a bubble. Can’t figure. If someone arbitrarily said this is a $600k car I would not argue.
