@FrankenBidder I have a Volcano Red McLaren, which morphs from RED to black-ish red across the undulations of the body. People swoon when they look at it (most recently at British Motorcars/Monterey Car Week.)
Along with other McLaren MSO colors, it's going on impossible to photograph accurately. What I've done is set the camera on a tripod and fiddle with the in camera settings, take a test shot, and then visually compare the car and the shot... or on-the-spot download to an iPad and compare. It's really a cut-and-try A-B comparison process made more difficult looking at an iPad on a sunny day. I think these cars have to be shot in blue sky sunlight (since they come alive in sunlight) and then the in-camera fiddling be done as above with the ethical objective of making the shot on screen (camera or iPad) match what my eye saw a moment ago taking the photo. (There is also an "emotional" checkpoint to the process... do I feel looking at the shot what I feel looking at the car?) To Photoshop or otherwise adjust later is a fool's errand, thinking you can remember what it looked like. (shooting in a studio can show the detail, but misses the in-person dazzling I experience... plus the color temperatures become a variable). I think McLaren MSO paints cars better than Ferrari or Lamborghini or Porsche (don't see enough of the botiques to judge... except for blue CF on a Pagani Huayra which can cause atrial fibrillation). When you see a bunch of Ferraris lined up, what does one think? "There's a bunch of Ferraris." When you see 75 McLarens at a customer/dealer event, I think, "WOW!!! LOOK AT THOSE COLORS!!!"
